Ford didn't run away with the pony car. They just let GM do what they do worst... marketing.
It's funny how the big 3 fight now a days. Dodge was first with the v10 vipers owning the road but last with the high performance trucks

. They had the engine for how many years before they thought it might help their image to put it in a pickup....
GM's SS.... what were they thinking? Almost like GM said "hey guys, we have to do SOMETHING" and an engineer said "make it pretty with AWD and we can get back to designing wrong wheel drive cars." caddy engineer, "damn those chevy engineers got it tough working with wrong wheel drive all the time."
