the reason your Borla exhaust was loud and had a nice rumble is because only half of the exhaust gas went through the actual muffler. the borla cat backs for these cars have the main pipe split and a pass through restrictor plate(s) setup funnels exhaust out one tailpipe unmuffled and the other tailpipe it is muffled. essentially a blend of muffled and unmuffled giving it a unique sound. (driver side tailpipe = muffled and pass side tailpipe = unmuffled )

that is a totally different setup than a magnaflow exhaust setup or any other cat-back exhaust kit for these cars
I bought a magnaflow cat back kit for my 2006 dodge ram 1500 from CTW MOTORSPORTS and installed it right there at Paul Huryk's shop in a few quick hours. it was indeed louder than stock exhaust. It was definitely a different quieter sound for the first 300 or so miles and then it opened up. I love the way it sounds now after about 2 years of being in use. It sounds perfect for this truck... which is not an fbody, but I am just giving you another magnaflow related example.
