I've done a few more things. New exhaust, new injectors/coils/plugs. I replaced the 'hydraulic lash adjusters' (lifters) due to some of them getting a little 'tappy' and the rocker arms with a new style that limit oil flow to the top end by focusing a small stream directly at the camshaft instead of spraying oil everywhere like some kind of demented lawn sprinkler. The inside of the engine is super clean for 154k.
Some of the original lifters were a bit squishy upon removal, despite being full of oil. Truck seems to have a bit more top end power, probably because the lifters aren't bleeding down so fast.
