I really hope they do come back next year. While talking to a bunch of people there, I learned that there was another big-time event in Ohio which may have drawn some of the badass cars that way instead of running the NJMP event. Also, there were some cars registered (I think 52 total registered 48 showed up?) which some never showed up or broke on the Friday test day before the event even began.
