Chrome Pinstripe Tape??

Hey guys....I'm working on another old Datsun here and the stock door panels have two "chrome" stripes across them 3/16 in width. They are some sort of foil tape from the factory and notorious for peeling off over time.

My customer had a brand new OEM door panel for the passenger side but asked me to try and repair the driver side. You can't get OEM panels anymore and the aftermarket ones come sans chrome trim. The chrome pieces are actually part of the door panel and can't be removed so vacuum chroming them is not an option.

I'm thinking a pinstriping tape in chrome is an option but worried that the adhesion won't be strong enough. The tape doesn't lay flat...it rounds off over the top and bottom and it's such a small radius that I'm afraid it will peel up. Anyone have any other ideas besides some blinged out pinstriping tape from Pep Boys? I was also thinking of using the tape but putting a thin layer of model glue down before it??
