Considering all the parts SmokingSS has, he might have a few as well.

I agree with the above - before you replace the motor, check the mechanical parts to make sure nothing is stuck / grinding together, preventing the light from opening. After pressing the switch, turn the knob on the inside of the assembly to manually open the lights. Keep turning to see if they suddenly pop open.
