Absolutely. I saw an unlimited products hood that was essentially a big rhombus (and I'm not talking about a square). If you aren't racing and don't need the couple pounds, stick with steel all the way.
In his case, though, nobody (to my knowledge) makes a steel L88 2nd gen hood, and nobody makes a steel L88 hood scoop you can graft on to an existing flat hood, which leaves only fiber. So you have to try to find the best out of them if you just HAVE to have an L88 hood.
