Great comments from neighborhood kids yesterday.

I had both garage doors open to let warm air in yesterday. And I was under the SS working on it as some kids came by on bikes and skateboards. Here are some of the comments I heard them making:
"Whoa, look at that car in the garage!"
"Hey, their's a boat in there too!"
"Cool, look at those tires, look how big they are!" - this was in reference to the 315/35/17's sitting in front of the boat
"Hey, there's somebody under the car!"

I was just laughing but it's a good sign that some of the younger kids might not be as dumb as the current crop of ricer's.

It is a great feeling. When the weather's nice and I drive down my street, there's always this house where a lot kids play outside, and every time they see me pass by they all run to the curb and start going crazy. That just something that a Honda owner can never experience.

First full day I had my camaro, i drove down a backroad behind my house with the T-Tops off, and a crowd of little kids were like "Coooooooooool nice car!"

Thats a feeling, Matt, you will never experience

when I had my 76, I was going to RVCC and I was stuck in traffic on a side street in raritan. there was a group of about 7 kids walking down the street (kinda ghetto looking kids, dressed very urban like). they were all talking and one of them saw my car and just yells out "holy ****! look at that car!" then they all run up and start making comments about how good it sounded and asked me what it was. I told them it was a 76 camaro and they were in shock. on kid even said it "looked like the batmobile"

I was delivering chinese food once as a temp job (Steve knows all about that ), and had a delivery to a house, mansion if you will, in alpine. Multi-million dollar house easily... real rich people here, the kind that buy their kids the newest BMW, Benz or Audi for their 17th birthday.

So I am parked right outside the front door since they had a huge U-driveway, and the mother goes to get her credit card... this little kid, he was 4 or 5, runs to the door, looks at my car and a big grin comes onto his face. He goes "thats a nice car!!" asked me what it was, and then when his mom came back he was bragging to her about how its a nice car and its awesome and he wants one
Lots of times in that job I got that from little kids, middle-aged people, old people... happens too with co-workers now, and driving aroudn town. it's a really cool feeling.

I used to get comments in the 67 all the time. I used to get older guys the ones that had the car new myb in 67, and theyd come up and be like "awesome car, sounds great." Those were the best. No the T/A is known around me as the BEEHIVE car cuz of the taillights.

When I was playing with the 72, I got compliments from everyone going down my road, between kids and regular people. Someone said "wow, split bumper, nice!"

I've had little kids on sepperate(sp) occassions give me a thumbs up.
I've also scared people by revving it with the cut-out open if they don't know how to get out of the road when a car is coming

I remember when I had my camaro... Almost every stop light I would have somebody looking. And whenever I was in a parking lot somebody would ALWAYS say something about it. I remember my girlfriend telling me "If I hear another person say something about your Camaro that you don't know, I'm gonna explode!" haha such a great feeling.
At least now she likes camaros... and motorcycles |
