Pet Food Recall - Dog and Cat
For those of you dog and cat owners, I came across this important recall on Yahoo news. Certain brands of pet foods manufactured by Menu Foods have caused kidney failure in an unknown number of dogs and cats, and the deaths of at least 10. The brands are made for Kroger, Safeway, Wal-Mart and PetSmart among others. See story and link to manufacturer here.
I know many of you have dogs and/or cats, and I hope none of them are affected.

Cool...glad no one's pets were affected
Though most on that list were generic, I did notice Iams, Eukanuba and Nutro on there. Though not necessarily good brands, they are popular none the less.

It's such a shame. It's also aggravating if it was the wheat gluten that was tainted because wheat gluten has no place in dog or cat food in the first place. It's nothing but a cheap filler and has no nutritional value to either dog or cat. Wheat is actually one of the top canine allergens, along with corn and soy, also frequently used fillers. You wouldn't believe the crap that goes into dog food that most people don't realize. My dogs eat a biologically appropriate raw diet, and we'll never turn back.
