Question about tuning

I know when you reflash a computer it takes a while for the self checks to go through and the ECM to read everything, if you are chipped and you pull the chip, will the computer read fine or does it have to go through all the checks again?

If you have a chip based computer it won't be able to pass without the chip. That would be the same thing as removing the operating system from a computer, it would just result in nothing constructive happening.

I assume that he means that he would be pulling the aftermarket chip and reinstalling the stock one....

My experience was whenever the power to the ECM was disconnected (chip change or not) the car still needed to be driven a bit for the ecm the re-learn (or whatever the right term is). If that is the question.

Yes, you have to drive it for a few minutes as the ECM will need to set the TLs, also it's best to drive the car and go to 100% throttle ( only need to do this for a second ) so that the ECM knows the voltage range.

Yea, I know that. I was referencing Tim's post about needing to have a chip installed in the ECM. I know that Martin isn't a mechanic by trade or anything, but he's also not an idiot.....
