Exhaust set up?

This is my 1st LS1 car and 1st Borla. I bougth the car with the exhaust system already in pace but I'm confused by it. It comes off the block into a Y pipe, Then it runs into another Y pipe right at the exhaust. 1 side goes right out to the tips, then the other goes through the muffler then the tips. Is this set up normal or some shade tree set up. Also a friend of mine suggested I'd get more Hp with a true dual exhaust, dunno wanted to check here 1st.

Thanks in advance

on a V8 true dual is better but theres no room for it. and your exaust sound like a reneck enginered crack baby.

That setup is normal with the Borla - you (should) have adjuster plates so you can set it up to bypass the muffler, run 100% thru the muffler, or a couple diff. settings in between

Bassani has a true-duel setup for our cars, but, it is like $1,200 and you need a panhard bar relocation bracket to make room for the pipes over the axel (and it will prob still bang them)

it is still one muffler, but it has to pipes going into it, and 2 pipes comming out. It also has an X-Pipe (instead/replace of our Y-Pipe) like a mustang and corvette.

h yeah... single 3" should be fine until you're pushing some real serious power by means of extensive internal work and/or forced induction
