My 76 Bronco runs again .... (UPDATE)

Picked up the truck from my neighbor about a month ago since he was moving to CA, and wanted me to have it. Only main problem was fuel was squirting out of the carb towards the front under the distributor (love how fords have the dizzy up front ).

It took 3 tries at the auto store to get the correct rebuild kit since its not the original carb, and had to try and cross reference it with a catalog, I got a new accelerator pump diaphram in and all is well.

Now, either is has a small miss, or the timing is off since it chugs off idle. Nextly, front hubs don't seem to lock up so I will pull them off and see if i can find out the problem. Is anyone has experice with that chime in, please.

Almost ready for the ............ should i dare to say it .............. snow.....

Thats what it has. Not auto lockers back then. Sometimes water gets in them and they have to be pulled apart

I converted my 4Runner from auto locking hubs to manual hubs last year. As long as you can find some good diagrams or pictures online it's pretty easy to clean them up and reassemble them. Just don't over grease them or they could start to lock up in really cold weather. Most stock manufacturer hubs are actually better than the aftermarket ones. There's nothing special about Warn hubs, just a little bling I guess. The Aisin hubs on the imports are much better than the Warn, MileMarker, etc.

UPDATE:

I locked the front hubs before rolling it off my trailer, and they engaged ... So, i just needed some movement for them to do that.

Still have a miss. Robws6 believes I have a dead cylinder. I know nothing really about points style ignition. So, the research continues.

The 81 Bronco I have also has Warn front hubs. It currently doesnt start. Plenty of fuel, plenty of power (twin Optima batteries, one red top and one yellow), it just chug chug chug chug....
Im thinking its something with the Jacobs Ignition coil. I think I need to join a Bronco board now....
