i've got the flowwwws
.......magnaflows that is
i scored this awesome deal off a fellow jeeper...
carsound (magnaflow) cat
piping from cat to muffler
magnaflow 5x8 muffler- single inlet, single outlet
bling bling mangaflow 3" oval tip
it is used, but it is only 2000 miles old , and all for 140 bucks shipped
pretty good deal, eh? i'm gonna mate it to my stock tailpipe so i have the sleeper look and performance...
my goal is to run 14's all motor for 750 bucks (yes i offroad but i'll have a set of AT's for offroading/DD use while my stockers will be for the track )

stock is ~15.7 (but has been recorded as low as a 15.4 at e-town) , i already have an intake (3" PVC to a 11" UNI filter right behind the driver's side headlight). i haven't run at the track yet, but in cool weather, and no spare/jack, with the intake and the exhaust i am probably in the low 15's.
there is a whole group of jeep enthusiasts that are into making their rigs fast (seems kind of pointless, but there is a big sleeper factor and it's a good platform...tried and true mopar V8's, auto, RWD/AWD, usually 3.73 gears, etc), they are having a big meet at e-town on the 13th, look for a group of grand cherokees. several are running low 14's, and a few will be running 13's, possibly lower.
i have a buddy with the exact same setup as mine (except he is running a K&N 77 series FIPK), same exhaust setup and all and a snipped wire that deletes torque management (on WOT shifts the PCM retards the timing so that the shifts are softer) that will be running tomorrow, we'll see what he runs. there is another guy who has intake, exhaust, mild cams, and a superchips tuner- he should be in the mid to high 14's, although nothing is certain because his motor has 110k miles on it.
after i put the exhaust on, i dont know what i'm going to do next. one thing i really NEED badly is a tune. these V8 jeeps run pig rich at WOT from the factory- they need a tune to get it running real strong. i am also going to delete torque management, and run a 4.6 mustang oil filter (fits exactly the same but is much larger than 4.7 oil filters, meaning cooler temps and more oil quantity.)

unfortunately i wont- I am currently in college in Daytona Beach , FL and wont be back until the 22nd for thanksgiving.
atco remains open all year, right? i might do some runs there if it is dry during christmas break
Ian- no, my 4.7 is a non-HO. this is actually better though, as the HO is tougher to mod- the superchips tuner doesn't work for the HO and the compression is too high for boost.

lol, no pressure there, tim...
1337, do you have a pic of your PVC intake? i've been thinking of throwing one together for the wife's liberty, see if that 3.7 will open up a little bit.

Jim,
if i'm not mistaken, the 3.7 in the liberty is a 6 cyl version of the 4.7 that has been bored out slightly. i've driven a KJ 4x4 before, that engine , unlike the 4.7, has no balls whatsoever.
I went to home-depot and bought 3 inch tubing (1 90 degree bend, a piece of straight pipe, 1 45 degree bend) and 1 coupler. the filter i used was a 11" UNI foam filter. is it overkill? possibly, but from my experience with dirtbikes and quads, UNI foam filters filter better than the K&N and still flow very well. since i offroad, i needed a filter that wouldn't let dirt and dust get through, and i've used UNIs on all of my quads and my old dirtbike and never came across a problem, unlike my buddies and their K&Ns. the 8" filter that UNI offers would probably be good for you.
you will be amazed how much deeper and louder acceleration is after adding the intake. before my 4.7 sounded very whirry and whiny - very japanese sounding, now with the intake it has a very hemi-esque roar at WOT.
while that will free up a few ponies, what the real restriction is on the Jeep 3.7 (hell, all jeeps really) is the exhaust. do a carsound (magnaflow) hi-flow cat and a magnaflow cat-back. pricey, i know, but -no joke- with the intake and exhaust you will unleash like 30 hp/35 tq.
you can thank me later

welp, i've street-lighted it many times and unless i'm up against a true sports car, i get the edge everytime. now, it's not the camaro, but its balls have definitely dropped out of its abdomen.
exhaust is an awesome idea. dunno if i like the sound of magnablows, tho. a header is definitely in order, as is at least a 2.5 through to the tail pipe. i've got a coupla guys with their ears to the ground for an SC kit for the liberty. a couple of manufacturers had brought stuff to SEMA, but no one's stepped up to the plate as far as putting something on the store shelves yet. kenne bell is a likely candidate, as they were one of the first to complete their project. i don't want to get real radical, but i've talked the wife into a push bar as well as nerf bars. even better would be the retractable nerf bars i've seen on bigger trucks. a nice 3" suspension lift and then i'd be able to put some larger meats on her. all in good time.
