Buyin a VTEC YO!!!!!
yup, i pretty much made up my mind and since winter is coming it looks like im buying a honda powered car.... an 06 saturn vue. it has the honda 3.5 v6 with 250 horsepower and awd. a review i read got this thing to do the 1320 in the low 15s, bone ass stock. i have until next tuesday to find something else but i searched everywhere today and i am yet to find a better deal for the money. second choice right now is a used jeep gc but i would rather get a new car. what do you guys think? who would have thought of the day i would go into a saturn dealership and say i want that car?

looks like a good ride. not the hottest styling, but not bad.
for that price point i would look at a jeep wrangler X package. more off roadable, similar gas mileage, about 1500bucks more, and similar insurance class.

personally i dont mind the styling as much as the liberty. and the wrangler is too rough for me. im looking for a truck that i will use for driving on long distance spurts. i drove my buddies 05 wrangler last week and its not something i wanna put 10 or 15k miles a year on. the interior in the vue is nicer then that of every other car in its class i have seen. i almost threw up when i saw the interior in the hyundai santa fe this morning. makes my fbody look like a luxury car
edit: i also dont want a car that i can take off road. if it can make it through the trails i will do it and thats why my isuzu is dead right now. and i blew my rear end and my brake master cylender in the mud two years ago

jeep liberty = hunk of crap. they don't ride good, interior is all plasticy(is that a word?) and looks fragile, and they handle like garbage even going around corners slowly.

American cars do last a good ammount of time too. Many years ago my dads friend wanted a new engine for his camaro, his dad was telling him not to waste his money because he just put money into the engine he had..he said wait till it dies. So him and my dad ran it with no water/coolant and it still was going, wouldn't die..so they pissed in it and donated it to a HS auto shop

yeah i was considering one...they get like 30mpg highway in an SUV and arent horribly slow. Their chevy counterparts get the 3400 but lack like 40hp and dont get as good gas mileage...plus i think the saturns have a longer warranty.

Um, no! My brother killed 2 Hondas all by himself. Meanwhile, every GM vehicle I have ever owned was still going strong when I sold it. Lots of 454SS pickups have over 200K miles on them. Personally, I think AWD is overrated and it isn't needed 99% of the time. Just get something with front wheel drive and you'll get better gas mileage and still be able to get around in the snow. My old 89 Cavalier Z24 was incredible in the snow. But I managed to survive 5 winters with my 93 Z28 Indy Pace Car as a daily driver and 1 year with my 91 454SS as a daily driver. So you don't really need AWD or 4WD.

Honda traded some 3.5 5spd combos for some hydrogen and engine development technology. GM gets an import engine for the import fighter, and Honda's CRV looks mega weaksauce packing a 120hp 4 banger.
The Nox and Torrent get the China sourced, 60* V6 3400 185hp and 5spd combo which gets about teh same gas milage as its smaller and faster counterpart.
Everyone is into the sharring.
The Vibe is a Matrix, and is GM's worst rated for quality.
BMW used GM's 5spd autos for years.
Ford and GM are going to be releasing there joint venture 6spd auto for FWD and GM is working with Chrysler and someone else...for hyrbid technology.
Lets not forget how Chrysler stole not only the original small block design for there small block, but they did it again for the hemi design. So nice of them...

Let me get this straight....you bought an unibody, car based SUV to tow?
Nothing for nothing, but thats probably not the first option Id think. You could have gotten a 2wd or 4wd Tblazer with the 290hp I-6 for about teh same price.
I would opt for the Vue over the Tblazer because of the nicer interior (Vue was just redone and looks great) but if I were to get a Theta SUV, it would have been the Nox or the Torrent. Larger capcity and flexable seating are sweet.

the most i'll be towing is a couple 4-wheelers or a small boat at most. i do like the trailblazer al but its a little big for my taste. i had to drive one up from PA to NYC one day and you never really notice how big that thing is until you're trying to weave through traffic with it. the vue gets a ton more power up top that the nox just lost wind and gave up after about 3k. the 2 main things that really strike me about the nox are the styling and the flexible rear seating. since the truck will get a lot of highway and commuting mileage i think the unibody design will be adventageous for me.

I had an incident in a saturn...... something to the affect of 80-90 mph around a turn that is posted 25.....
I had made it through the turn at 70 before.... that last time I did not.
I shortened the car by 1/2 inch.
It was damn safe.... I was 100% fine.
