In Hawthorne (passaic) the apartments around here average around 1,000 - 1,400. Just thought Id throw it out their.

I don't know if they've been rebuilt or if anyone is living there but there are some apartments in River Edge on Midland right off Kinderkamack, they had a fire last spring but most of the building wasn't damaged.

Bergenfield probably wouldn't be too expensive compared to other places near us and there's a whole bunch of apartments, but that's purely a guess.

half of the apartments in river edge have been rebuilt but only 1 or 2 of the 8 apartments seem occupied, there are tons of apartments in new milford, i would advise against living there tho....ive heard all bad about them

ive found a few in river edge and westwood, both seem nice, and i think the river edge ones have a garage too. My gf was interested in getting ideas of whats availabel in her price range. plus im also sorta weighing my options of moving out or saving up for the next like 2 years before i wanna get a house. as of now, the more i look at the overall costs of moving out, i would save a **** load if i sat tight here at home and then went right to getting my own home.

damn straight. most banks want 20% down on a mortgage. now, of course, you can arrive at that number however you want, whether it's instant equity supplied by the seller or if it's cold hard cash supplied by you. that's a whole 'nother ballpark than what you're in right now.

i would suggest staying put. get your gf into a cheap apartment and force her to save, too, if she'll be the one going into the house with you.

there are many unseen expenses when buying your first home, too. security deposits for the utilities, homeowner's insurance, taxes, etc. you'll need cash whether you strike an appropriate deal with the seller or not.

all cars and parts would stay here at my parents house, id never find an apartment that would allow that, haha. And thats another reason i sorta want to go straight to a house, so i can do what i want. And id be looking in delaware or orange co NY, out in the middle of nowhere or at leats where towns do give a crap abotu what you do on your property. lol. and when i have a house, i'd move all my parts, cars and lift, tools etc out there.

and if i did get an apartment, i think id live alone, i dunno if i could deal with a roomate(other than possibly my gf). but with thinking about renting for 2 years at say 1000 a month, plus those other expenses... thats over 30k id save by living at home instead. and then in 2 years id have 30k extra for a down payment. so i think i see what i should do.
