I just got an email "claiming" to be from ebay. It basically said to click on a link in the email to verify my email address. If you get this email from ebay, DO NOT DO IT. Although the sender address is "support @ ebay.com" , it is not from ebay. The link shown looks to be a valid ebay page, BUT if you hold the mouse over the link to see the true address youll see it is for a fake ebay page. Ebay warns users about fraud like this. They use scams liek this to get email address, user IDs and passwords, surprisingly many people fall for it. I havent recieved a email like this in a long time so I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I did forward the message to ebays security department.
This is copied from ebays response to what i forwarded them
"The email you reported was not sent by eBay. We have reported this email to the appropriate authorities...................If you still have any doubt about whether an email message is from eBay, please forward it to spoof@ebay.com immediately. Do not respond to it or click any of the links. Do not remove the original subject line or change the email in any way when you forward it to eBay."
