Ummm yea, header + ORY suggestions
At first, I was gonna go with Pacesetter LT's and ORY w/hi-flow cats, but I hear the fitment is a bitch for all LS1's. So I decided to go in the path of SLP. Just as I was about to order them from summit, I read the small print on SLP site which stated that SLP headers wont fit on fbodys with an automatic transmission. So now Im stuck. Im asking for opinions on which headers to go with. Im not on a budget so I'll consider anything. I read that Hookers are the best bang for the buck, but I wanna see what other suggestions there are. Thanks in advance!
-Noah

from what I hear, QTP headers are the "hot ****" right now. Or if you want to drop some serious coin, Kooks are pretty good. I dont know too much about Dynatech, but they might b worth a look.

QTP high velocity pipes keep showing up in dyno tests everywhere as the best available. they are pricey, but sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

$750 for a Polished Stainless Steel set is not pricey at all. With Kooks your looking at $1,000+. The only drawback is the y-pipe thats where it will put a hurting into your pocket. Let me know, usually we cut nice deals for local people.

pacesetters + tsp true duals ftw...total is like $800 but is a full exhaust system...if you dont want true duals its up to you...i liked my pacesetters but the ceramic coating will eventually come off. So if thats a big deal to you qtp's are probably the next best way to go.

Anyway, Im gonna talk to Alex, and try to see what it would take to get QTP LT's and a dual cutout y-pipe

Noah, ETA looks like the end of next week. If your serious I suggest you call ahead and get your name on the list. I wouldn't be supprised if the first batch is sold out already.

ummm i had to :
1. notch my k-member.
2. bend and dent the headers.
3. get a custom y-pipe.
other than that i had NO fitment issues with my pacesetters

he couldnt I sold them to him, they came off my 98 Z...I didnt have to touch the headers or ypipe to get them to fit. What Mike is leaving out is that I believe I had to cut the ypipe because even just using band clamps the pass. side connection wasnt coming loose with brute force so that was probably part of the ypipe fitment issues. I did However have to notch the kmember which was described in my pacesetter install writeup thats still available(pacesetter has since changed their design so there is no notching that needs to be done from my understanding) and I didnt have to dent anything to get them in...I did however have to clearance my block again as described in my writeup. Install took about 7hrs of actual work 6hrs of which I was by myself...I had help installing the ypipe & connecting the egr back up though.

qtps website shows 725 for the headers and 350 for the ory. i'm no math major but thats alot of coin, almost kooks territory...
a set of coated pacesetters are 400 for the headers and 125 for the ory. i think minor fitment issues (which supposedly have been resolved according to jeff) and a couple hp are a minor sacrifice for that much money.

WOW those kooks hopped up n price since i did mine 2 years ago! Damn - I think I paid $900 for my headers, y-pipe AND install... thanks again TTP!
But I definitley suggest the extra $$ for the KOOKS - awesome headers no messy install AND great ground clearance.
