Post All Firebird Lawn Show July 8, 2006 Saratoga NY

Hey guys,

This show is not quite North Jersey, but some of you came up last year and had a great time so I wanted to be sure you are all in the loop. Check this out:

If you do only one car show this year, the 4th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show at Saratoga Auto Museum is your MUST-MAKE show! Mark your calendar. The Saturday July 8 show (Rain Date July 9) is a fund raiser for Special Olympics Saratoga. We expect more than 100 Firebirds. All Firebirds, Formulas, Trans Ams, Firehawks, GTAs, Bandits, Machos, Show Cars, Street Cars, Race Cars, Survivors, Classics, Cruisers, Drivers and works in progress... are welcomed to attend. Join your Firebird friends and family. See Birds from six states and Canada. Learn tricks, tips & techniques from fellow Firebird enthusiasts. Meet Special Olympics athletes and coaches. Win prizes. See details near the bottom of this message about how to pre-register.

Due to many requests, the 2006 show is extended from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Once again, we will offer trophies, resin awards, food, drink, t-shirts, raffles, prizes, and lots of good Firebird fun and Firebird people. If you or your business would like to sponsor an award, drop us an e-mail to tsmith24@earthlink.net with subject line Request Sponsor Info. All donations are fully tax deductible and a written receipt from Special Olympics Saratoga will be provided upon request. There will be no cruise this year. Please drive safely at all times and do a little sun dance for Saturday July 8, 2006

If you would like a personal copy of the 2006 show flyer, hotel/motel info, registration form, driving directions,... just reply by e-mail with subject line "request for show flyer (or driving directions)". Files are Adobe (pdf) files. These files are yours to post, forward, print, hand out and promote in any way that you deem appropriate in your local area and boards or forums. (Please do not edit these forms in any way). Thanks to Firebird people like you and others from NY, MA, CT, VT, NJ, PA, ... the All Firebird Lawn Show in Saratoga gets bigger and better every year. We thank you for your help and your support.

If you did not see the online pictures from the 2005 show or previous shows, you can see all of them here: http://community.webshots.com/user/ts_in_ss_ny. You will also find a 2006 show flyer in 2005 Album 1: http://community.webshots.com/album/139102779tVMFMA. Please download the flyer and pass it to all your Firebird friends.

We hope you purchased your souvenir copy of the May 2006 High Performance Pontiac magazine which has a 4 page full color spread featuring the 2005 3rd Annual All Firebird Lawn Show at Saratoga Auto Museum. Many of your cars were pictured in the magazine. Thanks to Maria Bagneschi, Steve Soares, and Phil Dickler for their contribution of great photos. You might still find a few copies in fine book stores, news stands, and magazine racks across the U.S. and Canada. Some Walmart stores offer the HPP publication in their magazine rack.

The 2005 show is also covered in the ONLINE edition of HPP. See the complete story online here: http://highperformancepontiac.com/ev...saratoga_show/

Depending on interest, the 2006 show will offer a Car Corral for those who might want to sell or buy a Firebird. Only cars in the Car Corral will be permitted to display for sale signs. Please reply if you have interest in a Car Corral.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for 2006 show upgrades or improvements, we welcome your ideas. E-mail your suggestions to tsmith24@earthlink.net. Please put Firebird Show in Subject line.

Here is an idea if anyone has interest. There will be cars coming from NJ and southern NY. Maybe a TA convoy? If you guys want to arrange a start from your end, I will pass notice in my next monthly newsletter (make sure you send me an e-mail to tsmith24@earthlink.net and ask to get on the list). If you could plan your start time, we could probably figure a few meeting places on the highway (like at rest stops) where you could meet others along the way going to the show. I did that a few years ago heading west and it worked out pretty well. We had 12 Birds roll in together at a show in Syracuse NY.

Also, if anyone wants hotel/motel suggestions, driving directions, registration form, show flyer... just drop me an e-mail and I will send it right out.

Pre-Registration Details
Pre-registration for the 4th annual All Firebird Lawn Show on July 8, 2006 is now open. Pre-Registration is requested (but not required) and helps us plan quantities for food, beverage, t-shirts, raffle prizes and staff for registration, parking, and sales. Send an e-mail to tsmith24@earthlink.net with subject line Firebird Show Pre-Registration. Include your name, city, state, year, make, and model. All pre-registrations will be answered with driving directions and hotel/motel lists for those who want to stay overnight.

BIRDS of a feather flock to Saratoga July 8, 2006

Owners of the Fave25 will all receive Special Olympics Saratoga Participant Ribbons. There is a limit of one trophy per participant in 2006.

Goodie bags and Dash Plaques go to the first 100 Firebirds through the gate. We will sell hotdogs, soda & bottled water. This year we have planned even more raffles and prizes. There will also be show T-shirts in multiple sizes and more! DJ Nolan will spin records to keep you entertained. Museum bathroom passes & group price admission available to all Firebird drivers & passengers! Once again all show proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics Saratoga.

All Firebirds, Formulas, Trans Ams, Firehawks, GTAs, SE’s, Bandits, Machos, Collectors, Show Cars, Street Cars, Race Cars, Survivors, Classics, Cruisers, Drivers and works in progress... are welcomed to join. Car haulers & trailers are not a problem. We have plenty of room for truck & trailer parking near the show grounds if you want to trailer your Bird.

The 2006 show flyer is available here: http://community.webshots.com/album/139102779tVMFMA. Please print & distribute the flyer in your area at cruises & car shows. To download a jpeg copy, simply click on the item you want. At the bottom of the picture and description, just click on "view full size" and a new window will open with the document shown full size. Then just click on File, Save As, and save the document to your PC by a name & directory that you will remember. The flyer is also available by return e-mail as a pdf (Adobe) file. Please help us grow the show!

ALL Firebird owners are invited to come to the show with their Firebirds. If you don't want to show your car because it’s not ready, or for whatever reason, we still invite you to come. You are welcome to enjoy the cars, people, and excitement. As an incentive, we have arranged for Special Parking right in front of the Museum for non-competing Firebirds. You get Free Preferred Parking and a goodie bag when you register as a non-competing Firebird and make a donation to Special Olympics! If it’s a Firebird, Bring It!

What if your car can't come? Then just come to enjoy the show and make a donation to Special Olympics Saratoga. We request that all participants make a minimum donation of $5 to Special Olympics Sarartoga upon entry. Spectators are also encouraged to make a donation to Special Olympics Saratoga. Help Special Olympics Saratoga and help us grow the show by bringing all your Firebird friends and their Birds!

Sorry! The show grounds are a NO PET ZONE. Please, No glass containers, tents, umbrellas,.. on the field near the cars.

Looks like Saratoga is going to the Birds in July.

Counting down the days till then.

I'm going this year - I don't care if there's an earthquake. I missed last year cause of the rain date (family obs). I'm going even if I have tow my car there. I haven't seen a Tojan T/A in a decade!

Let`s see now, how does that go? Not Rain, nor snow, nor wind, nor sleet, nor ice, nor EARTHQUAKE, nor a non-running T/A can prevent me from going to Saratoga on July 8 for the 4th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show

We are really glad that you will come this year Fozzi58. This show is shaping up to be the true "MUST MAKE" event for Firebirds in the east!

See you there. Drop me a line if you need more info. Thanks,

Wink How far?

about 3 hours north if you do the speed limit. We are 1/2 hour straight north from Albany NY. Total distance is about 150 miles and worth the trip. See all the details here: http://clubs.hemmings.com/firebirdnationofnorthamerica/

More pix here at the gallery: http://clubs.hemmings.com/firebirdnationofnorthamerica/

and here: http://community.webshots.com/user/ts_in_ss_ny

You can make the 'road trip' and see this! Or stay home & miss this!

See you there

Thanks for your interest,
Tom.

Exclamation SECOND CHANCE RAINDATE

In case of a total washout for both July 8 and 9 the Saratoga Auto Museum has allowed us to schedule a SECOND CHANCE RAINDATE... Sat. July 29th. The buzz about the show-- emails and phone calls requesting info, the pre-registrations,the threads, tell us you want this show happen as much as we do!! You're just the Firebird fanatics we're looking for!!If we need to postpone the show, we will make the call by 10pm,Thursday July 6th. Look for an announcement on this thread. But it wont rain both days right??... Right!! Thats it, positive thinking. Any questions, email Tom at tsmith24@earthlink.net

All Firebird Lawn Show Update

Hello Firebird enthusiast. The All Firebird Lawn Show at Saratoga Auto Museum on July 8 is now less than four weeks away!

My computer burped last week and we lost some e-mail addresses and all pre-registration info. This does not affect the show or club. Our main concern is that in event of rain on July 8, without your e-mail address or pre-reg info, I can’t warn you about use of a rain date or Second Chance rain date. So if you want a personal e-mail on Thursday July 6 to tell you ‘The Show is a Go’ OR we will use a Rain Date, please send an e-mail to tsmith24@earthlink.net with subject line ‘Firebird Show Pre-reg’ even if you previously pre-registered. Include your name, city, state, year, make, and model. Please forward this message to all your Firebird Friends, your pals from other boards and forums, your cruise & show buddies, etc. All e-mail addresses are now being backed up to a remote server, so this cannot happen again. I apologize for any inconvenience. PS: If you snail mailed us a club application for Firebird Nation of North America, we have all your information and you are safe. No need to take further action. Thanks, Tom.

If you don’t already know everything about the show, find out here: http://clubs.hemmings.com/firebirdnationofnorthamerica Click on the Downloads page, the Newsletter page, and the Firebird Show page. Our insurance requires that you must register day of show at the show trailer to be on the field. Goodie bags and dash plaques go to the first 100 Firebirds registered at the trailer. Minimum donation for admission is $5.00 to Special Olympics, however we request that you be as generous as possible.

-- Please visit our website http://clubs.hemmings.com/firebirdnationofnorthamerica and the Download page. Get your show Registration Form, print it out, fill it out, and bring it with you to the show. Hand it in with your donation at the registration trailer. While at the Downloads page, also get driving Directions, hotel / motel information, Show Flyer, Newsletters (show info) from 2/06, 3/06, 4/06, 5/06, etc. We thank you.

Well it's almost time for Firebirds to gather in Saratoga. Show time is near.
More people from a wider area are telling us they are coming to the show.

Tom and I need to remind you:

1)You must register you and your car or we cannot allow your car on the show field.
2) Please leave the rubber on your tires-not on the Avenue of the Pines-No burnouts leaving the show.
3) Saratoga Spa State Park is a Carry In-Carry Out park. What you bring in you bring out.
4) Shine your Birds all nice and pretty, we need good pics for submission to HPP magazine and of course here at NJFBOA!!

See you in Saratoga. Have a safe trip.

THE SHOW IS A GO FOR Saturday JULY 8

THE SHOW IS A GO FOR Saturday JULY 8. PLEASE READ Time Table and Last Minute Details BELOW!

The weather folks have cooperated and forecast sunny skies for Friday and Saturday with morning temps in the 60’s for the drive to Saratoga and rising nicely to 80 to 83 degrees by afternoon for the 4th Annual All Firebird Lawn Show at Saratoga Auto Museum.

All 1967 to 2002 Firebirds, Formulas, Trans Ams, Firehawks, Special Editions, GTAs, Bandits, Machos, Show Cars, Street Cars, Race Cars, Survivors, Classics, Cruisers, Drivers, Hardtops, T-Tops, Convertibles and works in progress... are welcomed to attend. Spectators are also encouraged to attend and donate to Special Olympics.

As a reminder, the purpose and focus of our show is on fundraising for Special Olympics, Firebird fun, and exchange of knowledge. Although our show has many of the trappings of a national event, we strive to maintain a casual atmosphere and minimize the battle for trophies and awards. We hope you will mingle with Firebird enthusiasts & Special Olympics athletes and coaches. We encourage you to be generous with your donations upon entry and generous with your food & t-shirt purchases. We trust you will have a fun Firebird time and enjoy more than 100 wonderful Firebirds that are coming from nine US states and 2 provinces in Canada. We thank you for your attendance & generosity. All money raised is collected by Special Olympics Volunteers and goes directly to Special Olympics programs.

Show Time Table and Last Minute Details:

Friday – July 7: Casual Meeting at Morrisey’s Restaurant parking lot, 3246 South Broadway (Route 9), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 at 6:00 p.m. All Firebird Nation of North America club members and all Show Participants are invited. Morrisey’s is located on the east side of the road about 1 mile North of the I87 exit 13 interchange and about 3 miles South of the Show Grounds. We will hang in the parking lost for about a ½ hour to give everyone a chance to arrive. From there, we Cruise at 6:30 p.m. to Pizza Hut, 2103 Doubleday Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY, 12020. This is about a 4 mile trip which should take about 10 minutes. Directions: Left out of Morrisey’s to South on Route 9 to Right on Old Post Road (at the Mobil Station) to Right on Northline Road (at the stop sign) to the red light and Left on Route 50 South (Doubleday Ave). Go about .4 miles to Pizza Hut on your right. Park in the Grand Union lot next to Pizza Hut.

** Morrisey’s Restaurant is closed and is for sale. The parking lot is large, empty and a great private place for a meeting with no interference.

** Pizza Hut is located in the Grand Union Plaza. Since the Grand Union is out of business, the parking lot is very large with no other cars so we should have no concerns about other cars or other issues. Pizza Hut says they can accommodate our group with seating, food and beverages.

Saturday – July 8: The 4th Annual All FIREBIRD Lawn Show kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. at SARATOGA AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM, Saratoga Spa State Park, 110 Avenue of the Pines, Saratoga Springs NY 12866. The show grounds are directly across the street from the Museum. Directions: http://clubs.hemmings.com/firebirdnationofnorthamerica then click on the Download Page and click on Directions. Please read important information below.

If you haven’t already done so, please visit our website: http://clubs.hemmings.com/firebirdnationofnorthamerica. Click on the Download page and click on the Show Registration Form. Print the form, fill it out, and bring it with you to the show. Hand it in with your donation at the registration trailer. While at the Downloads page, also get driving Directions, hotel / motel information, Show Flyer, Newsletters (show info) from 2/06, 3/06, 4/06, 5/06, etc.

Our insurance requires that you must register day of show at the show trailer and sign the registration form to be on the field. Goodie bags and dash plaques go to the first 100 Firebirds registered at the trailer. Minimum donation for admission is $5.00 to Special Olympics however we request that you be as generous as possible.

Don’t forget the Car Corral. If you have a Firebird for sale, you can only have ‘For Sale’ signs in or on your vehicle if in the Car Corral. This will be a prominent location on the field. Don’t miss out. Minimum donation is just $10 and you still get goodie bag, dash plaque, etc. You can register for the Car Corral at the registration trailer when you sign in.

If you haven’t pre-registered, it is not too late. Please e-mail your Name, City, State, Year, Make & Model to tsmith24@earthlink.net. Subject Line: Firebird Show pre-registration.

Cars will be grouped on the field by class. Classes include 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Generation Firebirds. Owners of multiple cars are welcome to park their cars together as long as they are in the same class. We are grouping the cars to make it easier for our class judges and spectators. There will be a judge for each class. Please note, if you do not want to be judged, just leave your hood down, or mark ‘FOR DISPLAY ONLY’ on your YEAR ONE sheet to be placed in your dash. You will find a YEAR ONE dash card and a judging sheet in your goodie bag. You may choose to park on the field or in front of the Museum as a NON-COMPETE FIREBIRD. You are still entitled to a dash plaque, goodie bag, etc. when you register at the show trailer and make your donation to Special Olympics.

ALL COMPETING CARS MUST BE ON FIELD by 11:00 a.m.
Owner Must Complete Judging Sheet Registration #, Name, Year, Model, Color, and Mileage.
Owner Must Leave Judging Sheet on Dash Board near driver’s open window.
All Hoods, Trunks, & Convertible tops must be up for judging.
All Front End Masks (bras) must be removed.
Hood down means car will not be judged.
NON COMPETING CARS MAY ARRIVE AND DEPART ANY TIME BEFORE 3:00 P.M.

Great Event in Saratoga

Hey all you guys that didnt go, you missed a great event, great ride up and a lot of fun. It's beautiful country up there, the people and cars were awesome. The car museum was pretty cool too. I'm sure Frank will agree, we had a great time.
Can't wait till next year.

Thanks Tom and everyone there that made it happen!

Sam
