Incoming!

I just got seriously buzzed by a bat as I was cooking up some dinner on the grill. It's not even that dark yet. I saw him circling around and then he suddenly dove at me! I just need to make sure he doesn't make it into the house since we leave the back door open for the dog to go in and out.

Good story with bats right here:

I was 10 years old... i was in my room upstairs with the window open. I think I was reading a book for school and my bedroom light was "flickering"... no, it was a bat flying around!!! So I did a swandive on the floor with the phone and rolled under my bed and did the 550 trick (before the whole area code thing, u dial 550 and the last 4 digits of your phone, hang up, turn it back on, and hang up and it'll call back your house) . With that trick, the our phone rang, I picked it up and my mom picked up cuz she was downstairs (whole part of the trick) . So i told her about the bat in my room, and my dad which was bagged at the time with a dozen beers, comes up to my room with a broom. Now this was a funny site, he swung at it once almost falling over, he said "Steeerike 1" ... he swung again, missed, fell on the ground and said "Steeeeerike 2" ... third time, he swung, the bat was hit and died on the spot and he said "Hooooooome run" ... he then picked it up with a broom + dustpan, and flushed it down the toilet!!!!!

Next day we painted my room to make sure rabies wasnt anywhere lmao.

My 2 year old whacked me in the knees with a wiffle bat the other day, does that count?

the most fun solution for bats is to get a few rocks and a tennis racket. flip a rock up in the air and when the bat follows it see if you can get it all the way into the neighbors yard

I usually use the tennis rackets on the carpenter bees that took residence outside my house. I can clear the yard with a good hit if they are big enough

I try to hit them with a wiffle bat. That is harder than it sounds.

i used to do the same thing with carpenter bees and tennis rackets but i found that badmittin (sp) work better because they are a bit longer and threaded closer together so you could hit smaller ones :}

wiffle ball bats work great on wasps and hornets. they ae small and tough to get, but they are pretty solid and fly well when you make contact

I climbed up a tree that had a hornets nest in it when I was a kid(like 200 years ago). I had no idea there was a nest in the tree but suddenly I kept getting these little stabs and realized something wasn't right. I literally fell 25-30 feet to the ground bouncing off branches and got up and ran away! Kids!
