6000 rpm would be ~175mph with 3.73's in 4th gear...stock speed limiter on most ls1's is 160 but with a decent heads/cam setup you should be able to theoretically hit that at the very top of 4th gear.

They dynoed an auto in 4th gear? Or were they just trying to see what the top speed would be?

also a dyno doesnt load the vehicle nearly as much as on a 2 mile stretch of road would...not to mention wind resistance.

Way back when I was bolt-ons I went 150 in a 2 mile stretch on the street. I'm sure if I had the set-up I had back then I wouldn't have any problems hitting 160-170, but I would never do it. After doing 150 on a deserted backroad at 3 am I decided to never do that again. It's too dangerous.

i would suggest you look up ht eeast coast timing association. they run at an old airport in maxton , VA. it is about a 1mile shot on nice concrete with plenty of shut down and bail out area.

i kid you all not, but with just a lid/catback free mods m6 stock gears, had the speedo pegged in the T/A with the tachometer reading 5700 rpm i wish i had a gps or something. dunno how accurate this site is for high speeds, but i went on http://www.f-body.org/gears/ and it said 172mph and never again will i go that fast!! (just one of those things you know, i had to see what the car could top out at). Before the 4.11s, hitting 145+ was not a problem. But i'll stick with 1/4 miles now its a lil slower that way
