AIR lines and Exhaust Mounting Brackets
I have two questions, one for exhaust and one for hte AIR system on a third gen.
1. I noticed the AIR line that runs along the exhaust pipe, was cut right next to the cat. It's still connected to the manifolds, and to the exhaust pipe just behind the cat, but someone cut the line. Is there a sleeve or something I can put over that (it gets real hot) to basically reconnect the line? Or do I have to replace the whole thing? Or does it really matter, ie. can I still pass inspection with the AIR line cut?
2. There is a mounting (suspension) bracket for the exhaust pipe (I have a single line) just in front of the cat. It appears to have broken / rusted through. Has anyone else just left it alone, or should the mounting bracket be replaced because there's too much travel (bounce) in the exhaust lines near the cat?
I dont have pictures of either, but could get them next weekend.
Thanks.

1. The air line should go in right in the side of the cat. I removed my air system, so i cut it and took a pair of vice grips and pinched it closed. If its not connected, might as well remove the air system since thats what its for. Hey, its cheaper then a new cat ...
2. the mounting bracket near the cat attached to the t/q arm mount at the tail of the transmission

I used a piece of rubber hose to reconnect my AIR Line believe it or not. It's about 4 inches away from the cat and hasn't melted in 5 years now.

+1 Aftermarket/replacement cats often come with 6" or so of rubber hose - kind of like heater hose.

Heater hose sounds much better than capping it off. Thanks guys.
