So i think i got scammed...now what?

So here's the deal...i posted that i needed a stock driveshaft on camaroz28.com and got an email from this guy, Dustin Sutton, saying he'll sell me one for 55 shipped. I send the money and havent heard anything from the guy yet. I filed a dispute with paypal and gave him till august 10th to respond.

then i decided to search for the guys name on camaroz28 and came up with 2 threads where he ripped people off

so basically my question is how does the whole dispute/claim thing go down with paypal? has anyone ever gone through the process?

edit: the guys email is formula-power@hotmail.com, and i would advise against doing business with him

jon- send a dispute with paypal ASAP, the other dude may have time to change accounts and paypal will be unable to track him. tell paypal that you found out hes a scammer and you wanna retrieve your payment. happened to me once and they got me my money back in a week or so, just dont sleep on it.

Did the guy send you a payment request on Paypal for the $55.00???
If you didn't i don't know how that part work's but any time you buy something from somebody of the internet you should give them your Paypal I.D. and ask them to send you a Payment request for whatever amount you worked a deal out for with a item..
Because you are protected better any time it is done that way and you have a dispute you get your money back with no problem's ...
But i would look it up to see how your protected under just sending somebody money through Paypal ... Or if you listed it on Paypal why you were sending the person the Money

they didnt tell me anything really, i just one day found another $32 in my account. i would definately notify them that this dude is a known fraud so they turn it into a "claim" as soon as possible.

think about it, what if the guy goes to the bank and closes his account... how will paypal get the money back? they arent gonna go door to door for him. after that the only was is his local police.

I didnt realize that i could have them request money from me, which i will do from now on.

As far as sending the guy money i havent had any problems in over a year of using web forums to buy/sell parts so i didnt think twice after a few emails. This will not happen in the future.

j0n you'll be fine, if he doesn't respond within that ammount of time they will reverse the charge, and then nig nag that guy for the rest of his sorry life. I've been through it.

so what is that stupid paypal insurance charge that no one gets for? makes it seem like a scam itself if that is their usual protocol.

Yeah all somebody need's is your Paypal I.d. then they can send you a request of fund's through Paypal
And it would say so and so has sent you a payment request for $55 bucks for Drive shaft
When you do business on there like that your protected 100% no matter what...
If you used a credit card to pay the guy through Paypal you can also have your credit card company do a charge back without paypal being able to do anything about it...
I don't know if you can do the same with a bank account though
But if you used a credit card call them tell them what happened and they can charge it right back off the account
That is a known ebay buyer scam .. that people do to ebay seller's
Good luck with it
I hate dick heads like that if he's close enough go hunt him down hehe

well actually.. I think the catch is this. The person I paid had a verified account. If you pay someone without them having a verified account, that's where the insurance kicks in.

ive gotten money back through paypal many times, verified or not, i'm over 100 verified by now though. Paypal will give them a time frame to prove the item was shipped/ or delivered. if nothing is provided, they will pull funds from their paypal balance or linked account. The process is quick and pretty easy to go through, dont sweat it.

and j0n, i got that one, ill be around tomorrow so give me a call, or i'll even leave it outside when i go away and you can pick it up later in the week. i got in late last nigth and forgot to call u today, my bad.
