Team Falken D1 Team Comes to Sears!

Well, my boss called me up tonight, to inform me that I must be in extra early tomorrow due to the fact that we will have a special visitors. Now, usualy that means some higher-up coming down to break our balls or something, but not this time.
He got a phone call from VP of Automotive in Chicago, saying that Team Falken's 2006 Mustang GT drift car had blown an engine, and they need a lift to work on the car and get a new engine in. The team was at Wall Speedway this weekend, and they are in need of a shop. So, tomorrow morning, they will have the Mustang ready to be worked on.
Some might be asking "why the hell Sears?" and I will tell you why. Sears and Falken co-sponsor a 350Z drift car, which I posted about a few months ago. Being that we are one of the only companies that sell Falken tires around here, and our overall bad assedness, they are going to bring there stuff here.
I will be taking pictures, and a vid when they fire it up.

Well, one car turned into 2 as another car, there Inifity G35 Twin Turbo clipped a cone, ripped off the oil cooler line, and they ran around one lap with NO oil pressure...it broke off one of the ends of the cam...pretty cool. So they got a VQ35 motor and that is being sent here tonight. The Mustang has a 4.6 DOHC motor, with blower. Puts out 650hp for drifting, but can be dialed up to 36psi of boost for a over 1600-1800 hp.
Our Sears 350Z drift car also shat out some CV shafts, but they are being replaced at the track. The Falken crew took a red eye flight from SoCal to be here this morning, and they are super cool guys. They are very appreciative of us letting them use the shop and tools, as well as getting them a new engine and other parts.
The Mustang will be here for another day it seems as the new cyl head is being overnighted from Canada. Both cars look like monsters, and I have plenty of pics of the cars in the shop. Very cool day, and Im glad business is overall slow.
If anyone wants to see them, they are racing at Wall Speedway this weekend.

Well, that was probably the best day at work ever. Both cars are staying overnight. The Falken crew are some of the coolest dudes ever man. They are welcome back to my shop whenever. Tomorrow, a lot of the Sears big shots are coming down to poke there nose into everything, but this one guy who set it all up is coming down to thank my crew for helping out. Anyway, here are some pics.

Sorry for the ****** quality, dunno wtf is going on.

Here you can see the intake cam missing a section....oops

They said that tomorrow, when both cars are done....we might see a little smoke...muahahahahah

Yeah, I dunno why its so damn big. The Mustang is lighter and has more hp, and its not like they are doing 200mph+...maybe the G35 is just too damn light int he ass, its that tank of an engine up front that eats it all?

Our Sears 350Z car is still at the stadium. They are going to see if they can get us some passes for some of us for the show on Saturday.

I'm suprised they tow the mustang in an open trailer like that. I'd think they would have an enclosed trailer.

that huge wing is because the G35 is light as hell in the rear and it just prevents the damn thing from flipping over during a drift...those are definately some nice cars...not as nice as the team orange drift cars though

The cars look pretty sweet and can definitely put out the power. I'm just not a big fan of drifting. It just doesn't make sense to make as much power as possible and then go out and go as slow as possible.

the ziex ze512 is what I have that are all worn out, from when i got them (1 yr and 9ish months ago... which includes all the time sitting after my accident, and keep in mind that 2 of them were too far gone for comfort by the dyno day... liek worse than the current rears are now) they never got **** for traction in the rain or snow, treadwear I wont talk about because as much as i feel it wasnt satisfactory I may have provoked that hahaha

ninjaedit: got them 11/17/04... somewhere aroudn 156k miles... i now have 180k. Shows you the treadwear, they're H rated too (the ones on the rear now I never did any major burnout with... the other pair i did)

Kasey's soul = black hole. It must have sucked the life out of the tires.

Anywho - the cars look pretty good, and it's cool that you got to watch them do all this work.

The Sears's 350Z is really a 560Z with the Nissan Titan's 5.6 V8 engine, first swap of its kind, and it goes in a 350Z vert!! I dont have any good pictures, but the one picture put up before was actualy more of a show car. That car had a SR20DETT or whatever motor in it. There will be a huge 5 page article in Import Tuner Mag about the car, as well as making the cover of several mags right now.
A photographer was there today to take pictures, and I will be put on the "Sears Intranet" for all the Sears people to see and there will be an article writen about what happend and all that, so all and all great stuff. The guy that started it all, Director of Commercial Sales Andrew Hoit was here today to thank all of us again for the help and said that he would try to sneek us into the race tomorrow, but only a few tech's can go. I, myself, will not be able to. Kinda sucks, I wanted to see the cars.
The Mustang is #4 or #5 in total points, so they reaaaaaaaaaally want to get the car ready.
I really wanted them to bring by the 69 Camaro they have...that thing is hot.

the zeix tires suck but the azenis are some of the best autox tires you can buy. I have their super sport FK451 tires on my 7.

Yeah, the mustang is really really nice. JR drives it, biggest neck ever but Im friends with his gf so I got used to him lol

I think I passed them the other day on R195. A big pretty full size hauler painted in them same goofy colors. Sunday maybe, heading west.
