To the v6'ers going to island this thursday

Can I try your maf in my car briefly?

Earlier this week, check engine light, code 102, low voltage to mass air flow sensor. I'd delete it and it would come back.

Car ran like *****, idle was all over the place and would eventually stall.

I found an OLD maf in my tool box, popped it in, now it idles fine, check engine light on all the time, code 102 again, I can't even clear the code.

This old maf has been tossed around in my tool box for years.... and was a survivor of nitrous back fires. I don't have much confidence in it.... but this one allows the bird to idle nicely.

Before I spend money and buy a new one.... I'd like to try a "good" one in my bird. If that fixes it I will be very happy!.

If it does not..... and it is in the wiring.... something I NEVER touched... I'll be pissed.

So.... any help? If the bird acts up during the week.... I may have to bring my back up car..... btw, it's SEXY!

What is SD mode?

And, I dunno what VE tables are.

So, you are telling me if I run thursday with no changes then the car will be slow correct?

Thank you for the info.

na, personally I don't tune the VE on v6's either, theres not much of a point unless they decide to be in SD at all times. Its not used by the computer UNTIL the maf fails...GM sets it to run safe ie adds a ton of fuel.

it could go either way, but instead of the maf determining fueling your completely inaccurate VE table will. VE=volumetric efficiency, basically the backbone of fueling when not using a maf sensor...most dodge's run in SD mode all the time because they have no maf...even the late model GM I6 trucks have no maf. In your case if it wasnt tune it will run like crap, but in reality GM spends about 10 seconds putting together a VE table on a car when it wont be used unless the maf dies...it will pretty much allow the car to idle or run to the dealer but not much else lol

So..... most likely my maf crapped out...... and due to GM's safety setting.... it is not really worth it then huh?

I wonder how it crapped out????

Sigh.... well, I do have a back up

Yup, I will have to do that...... so.... bird shall not be at the track..... I'll bring the beater.

Since my bird hasn't made it to the track in ages... maybe I can be an honorary admin???
