art work was done with Crayons
It is difficult to believe that this art work was done with Crayons. Absolutely magnificent pieces of art/portraits.
The Master Crayola Artist...
Don Marco was born in Northern Minnesota in the late 1920's.
His interest in art was evident even before starting school.
As a young adult in the Army Air Corp, he began his life's
career in Air Traffic Control, which continued until his
retirement from Honolulu International Airport in 1973. Much
of his spare time was spent as a professional artist.
Before retirement, Don started developing a technique to
create fine art using Crayola Crayons. Shortly after retiring
he published his first print. Living in Southern California,
his work was in demand including commissions from
Burt Reynolds and a one-man show at his Dinner Theater
in Florida.
Their are 12 pictures in all i have if you want to see them - ask - only 3 at a time i am able to put on -- jz

if you can get some control over them, crayons are a fantastic medium to work with.. the wax makes them extremely maleable (sp?) so they blend well. The problem is finding a high quality crayon that is a nice combination of pigment and wax and not too waxy. They give an amazing texture like what you can see in these drawings..
Nice find john!
