Subframe Connector Install done
and might i say, that was so easy to do. And they fit perfect. Several months ago I bought the bolt-in UMI 3 point tubular subframe connectors. I figure with the engine going back in, i might as well strengthen up the chassis, somethign ive wanted to do sinc ei bought the car in '01. Anyhow, today i finally got around to it. I got the car up in the air, 2 jackstands under the rear axle, and the front wheels up on stacks of wood, all so that the car would be resting on the suspension. I then just removed the Chassis TQ arm mount bolts, held the subframe up and slide it in place. I started all the bolts by hand then moved the the LCA bolt. i used a large rachet strap between the chassis and rear axle to prevent the rear from moving back when the front LCA bolt was removed. It worked perfectly. I got that side done and repeated it on the other which went even faster. I honestly dont know why i didnt buy these years ago. They didnt cost me any more ground clearence and they are tucked up right to the body AND they fit with my Spohn chassis mount TQ arm perfectly.
so, if you are thinking about doing these, i say YES. lol.

hows the quality on the sfc's ive been thinking bout grabbing the 3pt but dont know if they will make a difference vs. 2 pt tubulars

i run 2 point weld ins, hopefully they will have someting with 6 points tieing them together this season

they make a huge difference. they will eliminate a lot of the traditional f-body rattles, car will ride better, and corner better.

Beam stiffness of the chassis is greatly increased. Yes, you will notice.

like they already said, a big difference will be seen... as fo my first hand experience, i havent driven my car with them yet, so i cant say, but i am expecting a change for the better... but also to be honest, im not sure if ill remember what the car rode like before them sinc ei didnt drive the car in 1.5 years.

yea but what about a difference between 2pt and 3pt has anyone tried both yet?

since i have the chassis mounted tq arm, now it ties my whole chassis into that center mounting point as well which i think is a benefit

Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong:
The two point (tubular or boxed) style that don't attach in the center primarily increase the beam stiffness of the chassis with a secondary benefit being a slight increase in torsional stiffness.
Three point (diamond style) increase beam stiffness just like the 2 points but they offer a lot more in terms of torsional stiffness, making them more effective when the chassis tries to twist. However, they can get in the way of underbody components in some cases.

afaik, the 3 point ones dont interfere with anything underneath. In the pic i just posted, that double cross bar in the center is my TQ arm mount. With just 3 point subframes, that piece isnt there(stock is a sheet metal brace), so the exhaust, driveshaft, and stock TQ arm arent affected. The 3 points are only under the floorpans.

This is also a great idea for those that have T-tops as your frames are slightly weaker than the hardtop cars.
I have BMR 2 point weld ins in my Z, and I just ordered a set from UMI for my Formula. Anyone know of a good cheep place that can weld them in?
