My dad looked into one for his '96 Impala SS. I think it is the same heads/cam (valve train), and intake manifold as the LT4 Vette engine. i think it was +/- $2K. HP increase i want to say around 45-50, but DON'T quote me on that. As far as sound, it will depend mostly on your current exhaust setup (headers, cats/no cats, muffler, ect). I don't believe it is a "lumpy cam".

if you are going lt4 heads/cam, you might as well just go aftermarket for more power/less money.

the lt4 intake flows somewhat better then the stocker ive heard but not sure if itll fit stock lt1 heads.

IMO a ported lt1 intake and aftermarket heads/cam combo would be a better investment.

toothless billy bob joe ported lt1 heads will outflow lt4 heads in every scenario. an lt4 intake flows no better than a stock unported lt1 intake. the lt4 cam is a pussy cam to say the least(.525 lift on 1.6 rockers iirc). Go with either an advanced inductions head/cam package or a lloyd elliot head/cam package. Both will port your stock heads and send you a cam matched to the head porting. you can also have them port your intake manifold for around 10 extra hp over the heads/cam.

If you're looking to do this soon let me know as I have a pair of lt1 heads that are all cleaned up and ready to get sent off to lloyd with brand new beehive springs(the same springs he uses on his le2 and le3 port jobs). Sending him the valvetrain hardware will drop the price of the portwork $300
