454/4-speed '79 Z28 Clone For Sale!!!
Hey all,
A very good friend of mine put together a '79 Camaro for his son a few years ago. His son is in the Marines now, and is in the process of buying a C5 'vert and needs the funds.
They bought the car knowing it was as a Z/28 clone; it has the steel Z/28 rims on it, correct fender vents, and spoiler, but the dash is not correct. The hood is a 1980 functional cowl hood. It's got some rust issues (lower right front fender has a hole, trunklid and hood has some bubbling, rear quarters have some minor rot) but overall the car presents well and the bright blue paint looks great from 10 feet away. It's got a black interior with new carpet, new headliner, and custom door panels. The seats are decent, but should be recovered. They were tan and dyed black to match the interior, and the fronts are kind of ratty now.
The drivetrain is where it gets interesting. It's got a mild 454 with a Comp 280 cam (built by North Jersey Performance) and an Edelbrock 750 carb. It still has a stock cast-iron intake, and cast-iron exhaust manifolds. The rest of the exhaust is gutted cats and that's it; no mufflers, because his son wanted the car to be loud. It's got straight pipes out the back. The trans is a Muncie 4-speed, with 3.73s in the rear. I dunno what clutch is in there. The kid drove up to Albany to visit his girlfriend a few months back with the car, so it's reliable, it sounds evil, and it's pretty quick.
They're asking $6000, but cash talks, because they're looking for a quick sale. Please PM or post ASAP and I'll give you the contact info. The car is located in Bergen County.
