front plate ticket

im sure people have gotten these before. end of the month, pigs are low on quotas, start pulling over people left and right. question is this: if i go to plead not guilty and fight it, is it worth it to take the plate cover off, drive to court, and say 'look i fixed it'......or is it not worth it, since the 'infraction' already happened.

also, how much does this cost to pay....no schedule on the back and the online thing wasnt working.

Is it worth trying to save $54. That's what the ticket is I believe.

just because there's no such thing as a police quota doesn't mean officers aren't "expected" to write a certain number of tickets per month

exactly! when i was gathering police dept info on which dept i was going to apply to, i learned from some officers that some depts do actually have "Expected" number of write ups, especially among new guys.

I'm sure the law enforcement types here love being called pigs.

you haven't been harassed in the past... ok? now you were
even if you fix it and go to court the costs will probably exceed the $54

i just paid mine yesterday, it was 56$ with the online convinience fee lol. im with the rest, pay it and be happy the "pig" that was just doin his job didnt find other things to write you for.

i talked to a bergen county officer and he said the "highway" county guys dont have quotas, but they do have expectations. if one guy uses 3 booklets in a day then they're asked why didnt they? they also will go ahead and sign a few books worth of tickets and date them at the begining of their shifts so they have to give them all out. they also have every rediculous statute memorized and you are almost guaranteed atleast 3 tickets per stop.... be good on the highways in bergen county lol

theres no way to fight it, its a very straight forward ticket. "unclear or improper display", cover frame none etc, all are accounted for in the statue. Just pay it and go on your merry way. To get the actual amount call the court clerk and give the ticket number they will look it up for you and let you know.

cops dont have "quotas" but i have heard from several officers about "recommendations" . Common sense says if a cop issues no tickets, but another issues say 100 a month... the cop a isnt doing his job, even if 50% of cop b's are thrown out in court. Its like assuming no one does anythign wrong when cop a is on duty, not writing tickets is a poor reflection to how you do your job.

There are NO official quotas. However, $#!+ rolls downhill and the cop on the street lives in the valley.

It goes something like this: Tickets = Money that the town makes. The mayor tells the town manager to increase revenue. Town manager tells police chief the town council may vote him out if he doesn't increase revenue. Chief orders deputy chiefs to order the captains to increase productivity. Captains tell the lieutenants who tell the sergeants who tell the cops. So, you get one cop who goes out on his tour and doesn't make a motor vehicle stop all week because he's sent to actual calls for service and does wacky police stuff, like maybe make arrests or take burglary reports or some silliness like that. Chiefs, captains and lieutenants have weekly meeting in which the chief wants to know why Officer Smith didn't write any tickets while Officer Jones, who rarely does anything BUT vehicle stops and happens to be the chief's cousin, wrote 100 for the month. Captains yell at lieutenants, who yell at sergeants, who yell at Officer Smith, who now has to go out and write tickets or deal with the stress of being departmentally charged for every little thing he does or does not do, such as getting out of the car without his hat on or taking a coffee break for too long. So he writes tickets for NON-MOVING, NO POINT violations, such as Failure to Wear a Seatbelt or Unclear Plates, even if he himself never wears a seatbelt and has no front plate on his personal car. The result: Instead of a well-earned and very expensive speeding ticket, someone eats a fine with no points.

Sorry...had to rant a little. But that's why 'pigs' write tickets. Because they have to. It's all about the almighty dollar. Doesn't matter what time of month it is, the chief wants tickets every day. At least, that's how it is in some towns.

As for fighting an Unclear Plate ticket...good luck. It'll cost more in the long run. Pay it and be done.

Yep, based on personal experience I'd rather be pulled over by NJSP than bergen co.
