wtf is the point of having bike insurance if they're not gonna cover medical bills?? if you crash a bike, someones gonna get hurt, theres no sense in "just liability" on it. i hope you both heal up quickly

That a load of bull your insurance should cover it. Its mandatory in the state of NJ to have some type of medical coverage becuase of the type of accidents you can get into with motorcycles. So make sure you push the issue with them.

actually at first my insurance didn't cover my "motorcycle" accident last year. i think it was because i didn't file a police report. but i'm in NY so it may be different.
but in any event, i hope all goes well for you jon. anyone down for a save j0n's bike fund raiser?

it doesnt work that way, lets say is icy out, if you were walking to your car and fell and broke your hip, car insurance has to cover it, but if you were walking away from your car the person responsible for plowing has to cover your medical bills if he was contracted to do so! if you are hurt working on your car never tell the hospital Cu's they will not bill your health insurance but your auto insurance, somehow the bike insurance should pay for her injuries although she was a passenger that may have something to do with it!
But as for J0n im real sorry to hear that bro as eric said anythign to help out!

That really does suck but I thought that if you hit a deer...it's more or less the state's fault? I don't recall all the specifics but when I hit a deer in my dads durango in Jackson, I'm pretty sure the insurance company goes after the state. This is automobile of course so I'm assuming things are different with motorcycle insurance. Regardless that sucks and I'm down with a fundraiser. Fookin deer.

Hey, she was a passenger, she might be covered. Press the issue (I'll bet here parents will, unless she has other coverage).

"First let's get rid of some common myths. We hear all the time "I hit a deer. I heard I can sue the state for not controlling its deer herd population." Wrong! In fact, the state has no obligation to bikers, or any other motorists, to control the deer herd population. If you hit a deer, you are on your own. The only source for recovery is if you have private medical insurance that may pay your hospital and medical bills. If you had purchased collision on your bike, your insurance company may help you out with your repair bills. Therefore, you should be extra careful driving at night in areas where there are known deer crossings. If you see a deer in the road, slow down even if you miss it. Remember, deer often travel in groups and there may be two or three more behind it about to jump into the road"

Spoke to the claims adjuster today...in a ton of words while beating around the bush he told me that they'll be covering her bills whether they reimburse her mother straight up or she "sues" me for pain and suffering, scarring, etc.
