FS: 87 Trans Am GTA -- rebuilt engine and tranny - SOLD
Black 1987 Pontiac Trans Am with the GTA suspension package. She is my DD for a 60 mile round trip to work and yet to have a problem. She starts right up every time. I've never raced the car (though I get alot of offers to hah) and always took care of it.
Drivetrain:
350 cu in (5.7L) engine
700r4 trans
Both have been rebuilt about 19,xxx miles ago and run strong. The 350 is carb'd; it is a 650cfm Edelbrock single pumper. The tranny has a shift kit on it and a ratchet shifter from B&M. The rear is a Borg-Warner posi with 3.27 in it.
Interior:
It is in pretty decent condition for being 20 years old. The seats are a bit torn up and what not, but I do have seat covers over 'em. They would be easy to re-upholster but really isn't necessary - the seat covers are just fine. The dash pad (just like many other third gens) is cracked in the center, but doesn't really affect the dash in anyway... it's really more of a cosmetic thing.
Body:
Good condition; not a spec of rust ANYWHERE. Two owners ago, the guy switched the wing from the aerowing to the standard firebird wing (which, imho, looks much better). The paint is so-so; it shows fine, but would look better with a re-paint (not really necessary though) I did some cutting and buffing and it helped shine better. It has the 16x8 flat mesh diamond wheels with the aluminum lip. The mesh is gold along with the emblems (similar to the smokey and the bandit scheme). The right side headlight (driver side) is currently suffering fromt the common Firebird "lazy eye." The motor on the headlight went and it doesn't open all the way. The motor is pretty easy to replace and only cost $80 from Auto Zone; I just haven't had the time to put it in because of school and work.
The oil has been changed once a month since I've had it and fluids always have been watched and filled as needed. I just recently bled and replaced the break fluid as well. The only "issue" as of right now is that the odometer stopped the first day that I got the car which was 157,xxx. I kept track of how far I drive (60 miles round drip to work five days a week) plus other trips to the beach and stuff adds up to about 3100 miles. SO the body has about 161,xxx miles. The 19000 miles that are on the engine and trans includes the 3100 miles that I've put on the car since I've had it. It also as a new set of shoes on it with less then 2000 miles on 'em. They are a set of Bridgstone Potenza's.
The price tag of $2800 is neg. ... I will also consider trades for a Jeep Cherokee (XJ). Please e-mail me with ANY questions that you have about the car or call 609 802 4478. If I don't answer leave a voice mail.
