that is actually the part i don't understand. i can have heated debates/discussions with any number of people and it isn't really a big deal. if i argue, it is because i disagree, which is really a good thing. strong points and good ideas come from a variety of view points and that is part of what brings on many of the changes and improvements to the club.
the difference i have encoutnered when dealing with j0n is that an argument he cares to join in against me is based solely on his own benefit. nothing to do with the club or even teh people he claims are his friends, simple self interest.
this has been proven over and over as j0n has tried to talk his way out of being disciplined with in the forums, tried to talk his way into the basement forum when we founded that, and when neither of these discussions worked on me he tried to talk his way through the other admin and moderators.
i doubt that i am alone is saying that i do not take anything j0n says at face value and i instead wait to see where he is going. that includes how i have viewed many of the points he has attempted to make in this discussion and why i have waited a while to give a personal response.
the only point j0n seems to have made even a poor attempt at that i can see as a concern for the general membership is where the money goes. that is a very simple one, it sort of comes back to me. i fronted the money for the club, i buy the trophies, the prize fund for the nats comes out of my pocket, in about a month i will be paying the $450 that it costs to keep the forum hosted every year, and even the printing of our fund raiser t-shirts/hoodies/2007 calendars was all out of my pocket.
over the years the club has cost thousands of dollars beyond what we have collected and until recently we really didn't bother to keep track of how much or where the money was spent.
our view of spending the money has evolved since the club has grown to the point that we can host bigger, cooler events that get more members, friends, and families out to enjoy a day of safe, healthy, hot rod fun. we now use accounting software to track where the money comes and goes and will hopefully get to the point that the club is self-sufficiant enough to stand on it's own without having to rely on whatever cash or credit i pesonally have available when it is time to make decisions.
there is no money coming out of the club, it costs far more to do this than we are likely to raise any time in the very near future. if we expect the NJFBOA to keep moving forward, it is a direction that we definatly have to work towards.
we have made it through 3 years of great times and fun events. we would like to see that continue in the future. we have already outlasted and outgrown every other attempt to put a new jersey based f-body club together, i don't think that is any trivial feat and i think teh members and their faith in what we are trying to do is to credit for our success.
thanks to everyone that supports the NJFBOA, whether by participating on the forums, coming out to the meets and events, or those who have a little extra scratch around to help pay the bills, you are all a valuble part of what has been accomplished here.
