New Puppy
Since my Golden "Taz" passed away, it hasnt been the same around here and have been looking to adopt a dog for the past 3 weeks. After a few applications at various agencies, I got the call last Thursday that my application was accepted on a Boxer/Lab mix. Since I was in Vermont I had to wait until today to pick him up. He is between 5 and 6 months old, he was found as a stray in Pemberton. He definitely has had some prior training and someone is really missing this guy, but no one ever came forth and claimed him, so we took him in. We decided to name him Tonka, since when I was a kid the Tonka trucks were my favorite toy to play with, and it kinda suits him well...here are a few crappy pics until my sister uploads the ones from her digital camera.
he goes for a few more shots tomorrow, the groomers on wednesday because he still has some "Kennel Crud" and then Friday he gets his check-up. There goes my past few paychecks its all worth it though he has been a GREAT pup so far.

awesome Jon! I like the brindle coloring as well, one of my Boston Terriors is brindle. Good luck with him, keep us updated on his size, I'm curious how big he'll get.

Thanks everyone, his coloring was what caught my attention, and then after that he was just himself and that was all we needed to decide on him. Well this is the night one update...around 3:30 I woke up and realized I had not heard him at all yet, I knew if he yelped the other dogs would too and I would be awake, but nothing...got kinda nervous and went down to check on him and he was passed out, but woke up when I got close. Took him outside, in the backyard for the first time since I didnt want to put him on the leash and he took care of business. Only problem was he didnt want to go back in his cage, so I ended up sleeping on the floor with him. So far *knock on wood* no accidents, nothing torn up or broken, and he has been going to the door and making sure I see him when he has to go outside. I just left him alone down there, first time not in the cage, and Im gonna give him about an hour and see how it goes.

LOL...you slept on the floor with him? That sounds like something I would have done with my dog....she is much smaller then yours though....she is the size of your dogs head. LOL. I couldnt stand to hear her cry and the cage at night so I turned into a sucker and now she sleeps with me Glad the first night w. the pup was good

Yeah, I couldnt get him back in there without him barking or crying, so I figured I would let him sleep in the cage with the door open, but he ended up using most of my sleeping bag. I know what youre saying though its hard to listen to them cry...especially at 3:30 in the morning, ya just feel so bad. What kind of dog do you have?

They are getting there, I havent had enough people home to help me really get them all together yet on a leash, so the pups been staying in the room next to the kitchen, away from the other two. They have some work to get used to each other though.
