Well I Really did it this time...

well a few months ago when I was working at pep boys I had a large truch come in and the wheels where rusted on. I decided, for some reason which is beyond my comprehension at this time, it that it would be a good idea to try to kick the back of the rubber with my heel. Well I missed hit the weight rim or the wheel and it hurt like all hell, I played Mr. Toughguy and kept working and it went away. Today, however I went to sit down and hit my heel against the chair lightly, and my heel where the Achilles tendon is is bright red and dark blue in spots. Anybody know if I should put heat or Ice on that? I'd like to do as much as possible without going to a doctor...cause I have no insurance, and unemployment won't cover that.

Kinda sounds like your about to take a ride in a Black Caddy Station Wagon. But really, put ice on it and elevate it when you sit down. Advill will help, but staying off of it is going to be tough. Short of getting a cortizone shot, this is going to take time.

Is it possibly that I could have partially separated the tendon or even broken the heel, the original incident was 4-5 months ago

Yes, you could have heel spurs(small broken bones)or planters fasciitis. Go to they have an entire site there that can explain what that is and how to treat it.

i did that...from what I can gather I may have partially torn it at the bone or bruised the tendon... but I figured I'd ask and maybe chance across somebody who knew

If you tore it, your SCREWED because you need surgery, and if you bruised the tendon, your SCREWED because you need to stay off your feet. Sounds like crutches will be the order of the day for QUITE some time!
