Well my ideas are at it again...

It's that time of the season ladies and gents. The weather is getting better, so I can finish up my hood properly, and may look into making a special bracket for 3.8 V6's that allowyou to move the alternator where the A/C pump is at to accomidate lowering top weight, and a little more breathing room up top, not to mention be able to use V8 strut tower braces. Anywho, I got a few questions to throw out there for an Idea that has been cultivating in my mind since I saw a certain show on TV ( I will not say because there has only been a few episodes of it, and you might figure out what I am lookign to use).My questions actually have to do with powdercoating, and not the product i am looking to invest into. If powdercoating cannot meet the demands that I am looking for, I will simply use Ceramic paint and my product to use

Ill start off with asking, what is the hottest temperatures that Powdercoating can take, as in the case of, can it withstand the heat from headers?

does a product have to be fully clean of paint and such for powdercoat to stick ( I know the product has to be negativly charged in order for the powder to stick)

and is anyone willing to try out my new idea lol. Im sure nobody will be because your not sure what I am doing, but if someone has an engine dyno, a thermo gauge, and a spare set of headers laying around, and willing to try out my new idea, PM me. I will inform you of the process in which I am looking to do, as well as maybe start my own business in what I am lookign to do. I love this time of the season, and I have new hopes this year that I will find an idea, start a business hopefully, get out of my dead end job, and be happy with my fiance =) I really watnthis to work, so Im hoping one of our dear sponsers or even one of our members, who have the tools and parts I am looking into, will be able to help out. Hell Ill buy a set of headers for the project, as long as I can use the persons dyno, and thermo gauge.

I don't know how much heat powdercoating will take, but I do know that yes, the entire surface must be clean of paint, rust, grease, oil or any other impurity for the coat to adhere properly.

And I don't have any dyno access or anything like that. Sorry.

Normal powdercoating wouldn't stand up to the heat that is seen on a normal set of headers.

Yeah I got info on jet hot. The only other solution I got is to adhear a special ceramic that applies wet and dries, and it can withstand 2000 degrees, but I would of hoped for powdercoat to last alot more cause of color choices haha.

You can tint the ceramic stuff to get different colors. Jet-Hot offers several different colors for coatings now.

sweet! thanks justin. You know ill be honest. Im glad to see people on here not knock my ideas down, im really glad to see that. I right now work as an engineer at a boat company, but its not me, I dont like it, I want to be in the automotive industry, and I want to invent. So to have you guys extend your hands to help reallym ake me motivated to make something work, adn hopefully, one day I can returnthe favor ot all of you with a product that can help all of our cars. Kepp those inputs and questions coming people, I have alot to work on before i start this process.

I can order C.F. cloth in rolls from my work, but I dont have an oven to cook them in. I can make molds too. what parts would you be looking to make outt carbon fiber?

Just ordered my super secret product today...hope it gets here soon. Nobody has still stepped up to the plate to try this on their car, not even JS, or TTP to help a brother out. Is everyone afraid or what? Id put it on my headers, but I dont even have them on yet, they are still in the box until I can get my exhausttips welded the way I wantthem to.

I've got two pair of headers: One rusty as heel, one painted outside, rusty inside. Will your 'idea' work on the inside as well as the outside?

Not going to be using either pair anytime soon, either.

do you have a vehicle to have these put on?, It will not coat the inside, but they can be cleaned up easily. This product is ment for outside usage only. Like I said, I have a pair of heders myself, but I dont feel like unbolting the K member and raising the car up to put them on, take readings, raise it again, take them off, then put them back on wiht the product and then take readings, and if they are of satisfactory to me, then I haveto take them off again and put header wrap on them, and then I will take reading, but I will be done. Im really lookign for someon who has an engine dyno, so you can get right to them, or of a older car, oh say liek a 2nd gen Camaro. I wish I still ahd my 79, you could have three people sit in that engine bay working on it without any issues with room, and I had a set of shorties on it, that were so easy to take off.

my first gen has headers. i'd offer it up, but it's still in winter hibernation. if you wanted to wait another month or so until i am sure it's not going to snow... there's plenty of room in the engine bay to just throw the headers on and take them off, no interference at all (with the set i have).
