Mustang to F-body Ratio!

While sitting at Dennys my gf came up with the idea of counting mustangs . We saw 19 mustangs and only 2 firebirds. Just with in a half hour sitting at dennys on the black horse pike. Just thought I would share this with everyone. Try this yourself and tell me what you got!

One year, maybe 79. 79 is also the best selling year.

Combined Camaro and Firebird sales were around 435,000 in 1978, I think it may have happened then too. Certainly an exception to the norm, though.

Chevy also had a lot more options when it came to 2 door coupes IMO, not to mention the tons of other spory coupes from GM.
Mustang has always been Ford's Halo car.

1 Camaro
1 Caprice
1 Malibu Maxx
1 Grand Am
1 Ford Escape
1 Ford Taurus
1 Ford Bronco

Back in the day I did a paper on Mustangs vs. F-bodies... this was from my research on the paper, the numbers came from all good sources. This will answer your question as to how many Mustangs to F-body ratio there is

Firebird/Formula/Trans Am/WS6/Firehawk/CETA:
1998 - 32,155
1999 - 32,209
2000 - 31,826
2001 - 21,436
2002 - 30,690

Camaro/RS/SS/Z28:
1998 - 48,490
1999 - 42,098
2000 - 45,417
2001 - 29,009
2002 - 42,098

Mustang/GT/Cobra
1998 - 179,296
1999 - 141,790
2000 - 207,188
2001 - 167,995 (including billet editions)
2002 - 142,504
2003 - 176,362 (including mach1)
2004 - 154,793 (including mach1)

The number of mustangs is QUITE astounding. My conclusion was that Mustangs are chick cars

They used to be advertised as the secretary car.

But advertising from the 80's onward focused on young, white males in their late 20's to late 30's. More young guys drive Mustangs than girls... and beat the snot out of them. Inexpensive, relatively fast, and sporty looking, Ford found a combo that works. Whether you like them or not, Ford did something right.

I actually like the style of the fox bodies and the 03-04's. Wouldn't own one though unless it was given to me.
