new Indiana Jones : no spoilers

I just got back from the first public viewing of the new Indiana Jones. If you were thinking of going to the 1201 showing but didnt you didnt miss anything. Excuse my spelling I'm tired. PS: No spoilers here.

Overall I'd give it a 3/5 where the originals are a 6/5 on my scale.

Action sequences: 4/5 , There were some really good fights and always that good touch of humor the old movies had.

Acting: 3/5, Harrison Ford seemed suprisingly offkey. I dont know if it was on purpose to emphasize the character being "rusty" but it was noticiable.

Story Line: 1/5 this is what really brought the movie down for me. The "research" end of it was a little lacking and fast moving. It kinda seemed like he magically new all the answers to ever riddle. The "crystal skull" was the dumbest artifact ever, and the ultimate killer was that the "lore" wound up being aliens (not a spoiler its given away in the beginning). And psychic powers are dumb.

Bad guys: 2/5 When I first saw that the movie moved ahead in real time based on how old Ford was from the last film I was happy. Somehow Communist Russians will never replace Nazi's on the super evil awesome enemy list though.

IDK its worth the money but me and my friends agreed its just like the new star wars vs the originals. They are still cool to watch and good movies with new adventures but the originals always prevail and remain dominate.

It's because they don't want their leading man breaking his hip.

I think they should have just let the series rest in peace. And Indy should fight Nazis, not Russkies.

as for being far fetched, i'll admit aliens are a little hard to swallow but remember God has come down to smite the Nazi's, Indian cultists were tearing the hearts out of people and playing with glowing rocks, and some water from the Holy Grail healed Connery's gunshot wound. so in all fairness to the series its not all that wild.

Religion and space men are two different ends of the super natural spectrum though.
