new problem haha
i was driving today and all of a sudden the clutch pedal goes straight to the floor. managed to pull into a parking lot, checked the fluid...the fluid was fine. its the master or slave cylander, anyway to single out which one it is? what a pain in the ass haha

If the fluid level is fine, a leak is low on the list of possibilities.
Crawl up under your dash and see if the master cylinder rod has fallen off the clutch pedal.

i was fooling around with it today and it turns out it does leak really bad. but i will pinpoint the leak and get back to everyone

ok the line that connects the master and the slave together popped off the master. i managed to put the line back into the master, but i was wondering...
is it supposed to just pop back in or do you need to screw it?...would i have to buy a new line?
after i popped it back into the master it did not leak the brake fluid anymore (i think, if it did a little i wouldnt notice) however when i pushed the clutch i hear a girggling type of noise.
everything is fine with the slave, the pushrod did not come off the petal. i beleive its that one line that connects the master to the slave.
another question...if i wanted to bleed the system out, where is the screw for that on the master cylander...it is so hard to look at/ maneuver under my hood i cant even see it fully.

Well, the gurgling is probably air in the line, so it'll need to be bled out well.
Not sure on where the screw is, or how that line is supposed to attach though.

yeah i keep hearing about the bleeding out thing which i wanted to do so bad today but i couldnt find that screw that lets the air out on the master...
anybody know where that screw is, if there is one?

i was looking at this website which was very helpful when i was working on it..

..it doesnt say anything about bleeding the system...does a third gen even have a screw to bleed the system? anyone know?

should be on top of the slave, my slave does, though its aluminum, but the stock ones should have something, kinds hard to bleed without one.

did you put the entire assembly together by yourself? slave, master, and all the lines? if so howd you connect the slave to the master

there is a bleeder screw ontop on the slave, the one that connects to the bellhouseing. its hard to see if you go under the car and feel ontop you will find it, it takes a hex head screw i dont remeber what size but you get it in there, open it up and let it gravity bleed just keep dumping fluid in the reservior cap, do that for about 10 mins and you should be fine.

gravity bleed? i fixed the leak, the line connecting the master to slave lost the roll pin (somehow, i really dont know how) and the seal. I replaced both and put it back in now i cant seem to get pressure.
how exactly do you gravity bleed? open the bleed screw and let everything drain out? keep filling it? i really dont know i kept trying and it was just like taking shots in the dark and i did get a little pressure at one point then after that nothing....
can anyone explain exactly how to bleed the hydrolic clutch?

yea gravity bleed u should just come out for awhile, and fluid will get lower and you just refill it.

does it have to be on level ground? the car is on ramps now and i cant get to the bleeder screw unless it is...
so just unscrew the bleeder screw, keep filling the resivoir for like 10 minutes? nobody needs to pump the clutch?

not at first, gravity will push the fluid down and the air out. let it sit some, then you should bleed it with someone applying pressure on the pedal. do you know anything about bleeding brakes? its the same thing

naw im kind of new to the DIY thing...
so gravity bleed, put the fluid in with the bleeder screw undone, after it stops bubbling...have someone pump the clutch...what do i do after that...?

after it stops bubbling, close the bleeder screw. top off the fluid. have some one pump the pedal all the way down and all the way up a couple times for the 1st time, then hold it down. as they hold it down, open the bleeder screw and a stream of fluid will come out. when it slows, just a couple seconds, shut it and have the person let all the way up. again have them hold the pedal down, open-wait-shut, and let up. make sure you eyeball the fluid level and top off as you go. should only need a couple bleeds, gravity bleeding should get most of the air out.

dammit i spent a good 15 minutes out there trying to bleed it and so on and i found out the slave leeks even when i "closed" the bleeder. i think i what my friends call "incredible hulked" the screw and screwed it in too tight, causing the threads to go out of whack.
took a trip to autozone and advanced and turns out if i want that screw id have to buy a whole new slave cylinder for 45 bucks.

dammit turns out i have to get a new slave, even a new bleeder screw wont stop it from leaking i think the threads on the slave are "incredible hulked" ill buy one tomorrow and put it in, and go with your guys' advice about bleeding, hopefully it works i want to get my camaro back on the road  thanks for everyones help btw

just return it and say it came like that. good luck and like an 1/8 to a 1/4 turn should be all you need to turn

dam haha i wish i knew that before...i unscrewed it most of the way and thought you had to force it to seal it. oops! hahah...any important info i have to know about installing a slave or is it just bolt off, bolt on and plug everything back in..? thanks for your help adam
