i need help!

i cant figure out whats up with my 93z a few weeks ago i was driving and got on the gas and it started popping like crazy and stalled out but wouldnt start up for about 10 mins. me being stupid thought it was a blown out exhaust manifold gasket. so i gave myself a reason to install my bbk shorties. after i installed them i took her for a drive and she seemed fine. after about 15 mins of driving she popped and stalled out again. now at this point i was mad and had no clue what was going on. i put an msd coil on there and hoped that would fix it. i left for florida that night. 2 weeks past and i got home last night and started her up and she wasnt running right. when i got home today i put an ingnition control module on. just so i wouldnt have to worry about any more ignition components. but now she seems to run ruff. at idle shes at about 1000rpm and when you put it in gear she dropps down to 600-700rpm but the car starts shaking. any ideas whats going on with her or have free time to check her out? im stating to get a little mad i havent got to really drive her in like 3 and a half weeks. o yea idk if it matters but the AIR parts are not hooked up i just blocked off the ports on the headers

AIR fittings wouldn't really matter as long as they are blocked off on the headers. I would sorrowfully say that it sounds like your opti took a crap. MSD coils are great at killing optis.

the opti is only like a month or 2 old. the msd coil was only run on the car for maybe 20 25 mins max

Hmm, are you sure you have a good ground at the ICM post? Mine was loose after a few drives around town, may want to check that. Is it throwing any codes?

Installed the opti correct? Or is there a wrong way with a 93? You guys are spline driven right? Hmm, maybe it had moisture in it and it decided to die? You sure you have all the spark plug wires on tight? And on correctly?

ya know what i did have to splice the passanger o2 wire to make it longer to get around the header so it wouldnt burn. could that be the problem?

I would check you connections on them, make sure nothing burnt. Can't really think of much else, did you hook up the EGR pipe?

i think they make heat wraps for ignition wires. you should consider that and/or better routing.

Maybe invest in a set of OTVC wires... pricey but it will last a while.

well after i get the rest of the wires installed any ideas on what to do for my backfire issue? when i drive its fine but every now and again when i get on it it just backfires and stalls out. normally will not restart for about 10 mins. no check engine light comes on until it stalls but at that time all the lights are on. and it was backfireing and stalling before i did the header install so i know its not because of the burnt cylinder 6 wire

Backfire could be from a cylinder not firing and the gas being ignited in the exhasut...

If the #6 wire burnt on the header it could be arcing to the knock sensor, had that happen and it gave the computer fits!

Double check all the plug wire connections as well, easy to not get them snapped in all the way.

No one mentioned fuel yet. When was the filter changed last? Check your fuel pressure, could be a weak fuel pump.

ok just got in and spent 2 hours changing out the passanger side wires. she idles great now. no vibration and is very smooth. i took her out and boy ill tell ya i finally felt what them bbks added. she threw me right back in the seat when i got on it. not bad for 168k miles. lol. but yea i didnt have to much gas in the car so i didnt want to push it to see if it would backfire on me again.

but just to let ya know the backfire issue didnt just start when i burnt the wire. it actually started before i even installed the headers. when i took the number 8 wire out the head of the wire popped right off lol so i guess that wasnt helping either. but idk i hope the worst is over so i can just part with her and not feel bad about selling it to someone.
