Motor mounts

How hard is it to do motor mounts on a 95 LT1? Do I need to remove the headers?

nope. pretty simple. you need to raise the motor up some so disconnect the intake and exhaust where possible. driver side is simple unbolt and pull out. passenger side is a little more difficult. you have to unbolt the motor mount and the piece it bolts to, turn it a little bit, and pull it out the front. don't forget to remove the through bolts of course!

might want to check the tranny mount as well...

Well I plan on doing mine this weekend, and then that got me thinking that I should probaly do the oil pan gasket too right? With the engine lifted up shouldn't be too hard? Also, where should I hook up to on the motor to lift?

Didn't you change the pan gasket when you tore it changing the cam?

Nope, didn't want to mess with it. I wanted to get the motor buttoned up first before going into another project. Don't worry I am not driving it so no leak.

ummmm....i had a lift so i put a piece of wood on a "dead man" and lifted by the oil pan. it only gives you a few inches of clearance. if i were doing the oil pan, i'd imagine you would have to drop the k-member. or remove the motor and k-member as an assembly then pull the engine off. either way i think the pan gasket is a little tough and requires some disassembly to access it. i'll try and look at it tomorrow and see whats what.

Well its an auto, so it is not that hard but I hope to use a engine hoist to lift the motor so I can do mounts and oil pan gasket.

Ok finally got around to doing the mounts, and after doing LTs and mounts on an LS, mine weren't to bad. Only prob is we lost one bolt on the passenger side. Anyone point me to where I could get one? Or maybe have one laying around?
