Dyno Tune Results - G8 GT

Got back from the dyno this week. My local tuner wanted to do a few more tweaks and spend a good deal of time with the car fine tuning many of the transmission parameters. Below are the results from the baseline.

He wants me to head back in cooler weather to throw it on the dyno and see what the gains are since the temps were in the mid-90's. The cars temps suffered from heat soak and required a lot of cool down time between runs. The baseline was done back at a dyno day in much cooler temps. To top it off, I was getting nearly 29mpg on the highway cruising between 55-65mph on the 45 min drive home.

All numbers are SAE....and man does it feel good.

314.57 rwhp
334.26 rwhp

For dyno number reference, check out the latest issue of GMHTP with their GTO project. The 06 GTO project car with an intake, predator tune, UD pulley and new MAF meter put down 338.2hp & 324.1rwtq through an auto on this same dyno. It took a full exhaust including long tube headers, high flow cats and a catback to beat the G8's tq numbers.

Can't wait to hit the strip!

Premium gas and the power difference is right on the graph. Picked up 20rwhp & 17rwtq and the tune was $250. With the added mileage I'm now getting, this should make up for the increased cost going to premium.

If you figure my car is putting out the rated 361hp & 385tq, then the driveline losses are about 18-19%. Looks like I'm around 385hp & 410tq @ the crank.

Could you still use regular gas, and of course not get as much power? Also did you change the thermostat? And one last question, did the $250 cover the dyno test? Thanks

That's a really nice pickup with a tune. Any plans for an intake and exhaust?

Ed, word is you're getting tickets in the boy's G8. What do you have to say for yourself?

The way I have my car tuned, I told Matt@TTP that I will use premium. He could certainly tune for regular but the timing will most likely not be as aggressive. The $250 was for the baseline and the dyno tune all together.

Featherburner: I have plans for an intake but not an exhaust quite yet. I'm still waiting for more and more parts to come out before I go and jump on a setup. I'm kind of liking the fact the car is quiet and is quicker than a stocker.

What I was getting at with the premium gas was that it could be set to use it for maximum power, but you still could put in Plus or Regular and of course not get the power it was set up for by using premium. Also, what does he(or you)think about putting in a 160 thermostat?

He said with the tuning it wouldn't be a bad idea.
