We need to import these!
Just got the new issue of Diesel Power and in one article they are talking about the new 2009 Peugeot 308 diesel hybrid. They said on an 8,748 mile test drive around Australia, they averaged 90.75mpg! Yea, can we import those now? k thnx.

I wonder how much weight they would need to add to meet US safety standards?

when you figure that the TDI VW's average 55mpg or more, getting 90 out of a hybrid shouldn't be out of the question. They just don't want the consumers to know about it.

yea, I also read that the '08 VW Jetta averages 55mpg, and the Beetle averages 60mpg. I did some looking around online and found several places that specialize in getting the VW TDI cars to really open up and they are getting close to 70mpg in them.

yea, but the reviews on them are 50/50, they're either great cars with no problems, or lots of expensive problems. The consistency in all the reviews is that VW's customer service SUCKS, and there are a lot of cheap parts in the cars that break a lot. I do know from friends that had older Jettas that when something does go wrong, its very expensive and takes forever to get fixed.
