basic carb tuning

i have a basic edelbrock 600cfm eletric choke carb on my stock 305. i know pretty much nothing about tuning a carb.
i got the car to idel decently, its hauls ass above 2k rpm, but if you nail it from a stop it boggs down. ive just been messing with the lean/rich screws on the front of the carb, anything else?

Those screws are for idle mixture only, they will have 0 affect on anthing after initial tip in.

Iv been researching the hell out of holleys since i went form a edelbrock 600 to a holley. If it were a holley id have some advice. Id say hit google up with a question like "edelbrock 600 bog or hesitation" you might find threads about the exact same thing and references to other things you can research that will lead you in the right direction.

That carb used or new? A new one out the box ran perfect on my 305 & my 350...

Try going to the edelbrock site and d/l the carb manual.
