Siphoning the tank

Turn out I have more gas in there than I thought... I'm assuming priming the fuel pump on and off with the filter off isn't the best idea, but the hand pump siphon I have blows... it's the cheap plastic autozone one. Plastic tube, plastic cylinder to squeeze with little flaps on it to create vacuum. I hooked up another length of tubing to the other end of it so I can get this all the way in... won't flow steady though, and it's a royal PITA to keep pumping at it.

Anyone have a better one I can borrow? Or any tips?

Tomorrow I'm gonna try and get longer tubing so that the pump sits at the ground

figure a way out. i usually stick a rubber hose in the tank and shoot compressed air passed it. works great.

Anyone know how to trip the fuel pump to run off ignition instead of just priming?

You can just run power from the battery right to the pump and not worry about the key...just gotta figure out where the power leads for the pump are.

jump the pump relay trigger - check your wiring diagram (autozone site has it if you don't).

if you disconnect the feed hose, wouldn't the pump just run with the key on? it will never build up fuel pressure so wouldn't it continue to run? just a thought

Or buy the $5 electric drill pump at home depot. You put it in the drill, attach a feed and output hose and away you go.

Jumping the orange and gray wires on the relay did the trick this afternoon. Thanks.

For the help of future searches, I found the fuel pump relay under the driver's side kick panel (the one that runs along the side of the car, w/ the hood lever and hatch release), and jumped the orange and gray wires' terminals.
