thank you mr. president!
i'm sure he's not in 100% cntrol of gas prices, but something definitely needs to be done now. it's come down drastically in the past few weeks yet we're still hanging WELL over $3.50 in most places.
I've found a few remote locations that are selling for 3.65 - 3.59 but they are the no name brand gas stations. Shell is still at 3.73, Sunoco 3.89, Hess 3.77 ... What gives?

Why would the price drop? If I am making a ton of money from my oil sales why would I want to lower the price? To be a nice guy?

Prices of gas arent dropping because Diesel is still expensive, and it costs alot of money in Diesel fuel to send a tanker to deliver the gas at the gas station. Sounds like a confusing, never-ending cycle... doesn't it?

Hess was $3.63 for regular, $3.91 for super on rt 23 in wayne/pompton plains. It's been coming down pretty fast.
And I thought it was at $100 a barrel when it started going over $3.00 a gallon for regular? I could be way off though...

No, gas was still around $2.75 when oil was around $65-70 a barrel. That's why people complaining about it going to $4 a gallon didn't make much sense since oil more than doubled but gas didn't. Gas prices are supply and demand or demand and supply.

It's not going back down because the price never caught up with the jump in crude to begin with. I work for a major oil company during the day and trust me we are making next to nothing on oil this year....luckilly we're also into natural gas, electricity, and retail stores.

its funny because alot of the price of gas is state tax. i have noticed alot of road work/repairs in the past year. but that could be coincidental...

NJ is usually the cheapest, and I think Georgia is usually the highest IIRC. or California

Just wait til the moron we have for a governor and his cronies push to raise the gas tax to finance the depleted transportation fund...that'll change real fast. They're already talking about it again now that the prices are coming down, and could be as much as .20/gallon. Instead of trimming the waste, they want to stick it to us. We have the least efficient road system in country costing us $2.2 million per mile versus the national average of $128,000 per mile.

And which one of these companies is making next to nothing? I missed it. http://uk.reuters.com/article/busine...25663520080801
My favorite part is where they say that the reason they are making huge profits is because they have nowhere to drill or explore, so there is nothing to invest the profits in (an obvious plug to limit exploration and drilling limitations). To that I have two comments: 1. try investing in alternative fuels; and 2. wow, that must suck. I remember how miserable I was the last time I had too much money and nothing to spend it on. Maybe the remedy for that is to not make so much money? Nah, that would upset the shareholders.
