f-body.com - crazy nazi admin?
I really have to vent here... I signed up on f-body.com a few days ago after reading through some of the posts. I couldn't figure out why a website with a great domain name would be so dead... I soon found out why. A guy on there has a 4th gen LT1 6speed camaro that has run 13.1 @ 109 with a 2.1 60' on street tires (hes probably on here too?). He asks what he can do to make his car hook. The admin over there "Joe 1320" immediately started telling the guy how a 4th gen's rear suspension geometry is incorrect, not all that great for drag racing and if he wanted to hook good he needs a 4-link. He then went on to recommend about $900 in suspension work to make the car hook... yet totally neglects to mention sticky tires.
Here is where I chime in... As most of you know I have a '88 IROC with bone stock suspension front and rear. It's been 1.56 60fts with nothing more than 27x10.5" quick time pros. I make a post stating that rather than spend $800+ on suspension work he should start off with a set of slicks and see what the car does. I also mention how my fast my car has 60ft'd with no suspension modifications. The admin immediately replies wanting proof so I first post the picture in my sig of the car pulling the front tire... He replies with something along the lines of "3rd gens have similar rear suspension than 4th gens but not the same and wont hook as good!" I then go on to tell him that their rear suspension is exactly the same and that once again, before the guy spends $800+ of his hard earned cash on suspension he should get a set of slicks and see what happens... Now Mr. Admin tells me that basically I'm BS'ing him and demands pictures of my rear suspension - of course I deliver. What does he do? He deletes my posts and his replies to them!!! I just sent him a PM. Here it goes....
me: are you serious? I sign up here looking to help a fellow f-body guy out with his problems and you delete my posts? That's just ridiculous. If you don't agree with me than that is your opinion and I respect it but at least let me voice mine. Isnt that what technical discussion is all about? Everything I've said is fact and I can back up all my claims (as you've seen...) hell I'll write your username on a peice of paper and take pictures of my car's suspension if you want. I also have videos of it...
Joe 1320: First off, don't take an accusatory tone with me. The moderators can delete anything we wish and that's the end of discussion. Continue it and it's over quickly.
Now....... Feel free to repost what you feel necessary as I trash canned everything that was non relevant to his situation to preserve the thread's integrity. I don't know what you are used to dealing with but there are no games on here, no egos, and it's clean. It's going to stay that way.
me: I'm really not... like I said, I offered extremely relevant information to the thread and backed up all my claims... I have no reason to lie. The guy who started the thread even lives in my area, I'll be more than happy to meet him at the track and show him as well. It seems more or less that you have the ego and don't like to be challenged. As I said, nothing but respect for your opinion but at least let me offer mine and back it up with facts about my car (which has extremely similar suspension therefore would react extremely similar when it comes to modifications).
.....................
We'll see what he replies with.... Let me stress that when I replied to this thread I did not argue with anyone, talk down on anyone, or anything. I just said my opinion and what my car has done... It really pisses me off that an admin treats their users like this. Don't they realize that without users their website / forum is completely useless? Anyway, just had to vent and wonder if anyone has had a similar experience? Here is the original thread: http://f-body.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21758&page=1

After reading that, I don't ever wanna hear another member here complain about our staff's "Nazi moderating tactics".
That's just complete crap.

He just replied...
Joe 1320Dude.... I'm going to put it in terms you can understand. I don't give a chit about whether your car is factual or not..... that is not the topic of discussion. Our banter in that thread was of no purpose and not worthy of staying in the thread. It's not about you and you are missing the point. Post again if you wish, I already made that clear.
............
So basically, me giving the guy a recommendation on what he should do with his car is not within the topic of that particular thread. I swear if I listened to all the crap I've read on the internet and in magazines I'd have a 13 second car. I'm not even going to reply or post on there anymore, it's absolutely insane to react that way and I'm just feeding into it.
I really wish I had saved all my posts to show how extremely non-threatening I came off and how I was really just trying to steer the guy in what I felt was the right direction.

That board was really strong for a while and then lost support because of the owner and some of the people he had helping him. To be honest, this is the first time I have even heard anyone mention it in a few years. I thought it was gone.

Yeah it's definitely worth going with a 4-link suspension on a street driven 12 second car What a tool.
He needs to go with an air bag in the suspension too? WTF?

I think someone has been reading too much Wikipedia or something.

I'll delete reality and substitute my own ideas. Bawa-ha-haha.
It's all part of my evil plot to take over the internet one thread at a time.
