I have lots of CD's in my truck, but none of the listed bands...the oldest I have is Motley Crue. The rest include Godsmack, MEtallica, Chevelle, Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Theory of a Dead Man, Saving Abel, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, Trace Adkins. I think that most modern rock sucks, but there are some good bands, definitely. Foo Fighters, Theory of a Dead Man, Saving Abel, Staind, etc.

After reading Bill's post I realized I should state that I love AC/DC and such, and have many of their CD's on my ipod. Just happen to not have the CD's in my car.

I am not a fan of most modern rock. Just doesn't really do it for me.

Music evolves. If you look at the music Led Zep, AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Who, Motley Crue, Pink Floyd, and etc, its obviously different than today. Back then, music was about the "love" so to speak, but now it's all about the money, and you can tell it in the music. Classic Rock evolved into thrash, which evolved into hair and power ballad bands... then bands like Nirvana, Offspring, and Soundgarden reinvented "rock" with grundge, which also evolved into alternative with bands like 311, RATM, Smashing Pumpkins. Then Korn laid the foundation for Nu-Metal along with Limp Bizkit and POD, and now EMO bands have taken over. In my opinion, the money part of music started with Nirvana... when record labels and bands saw how much they were raking in, they try to release bands with similar sound so they can try to replicate that kinda income for the record label, then when a new band with a somewhat different sound comes out and more people start listening to that, they try to replicate it again... of course, you have the few bands that have or have attempted to sound the same throughout their music careers, but the mainsteam sorta gets "tired" of listening to the same old type of music. Its the same with rap... not to change the subject but its like the "Old School" type rap, which evolved into "East Coast Rap" and "West Coast Rap" that tried to take over the music industry, then you have East Coast Rap prevailing, then out comes Lil Jon who puts Dirty South on the map and its been that way ever since.... Basically what Im saying is that the record label company is in it for the money, and you will not see a company like Virgin Records signing a Backstreet Boy band at the moment, because the demand for it is prolly at a 0.5% (except the few handful of girls who still burn out their CD players with Aint Nothing But a Heartache ). Basically the same with rock.

I have the AC/DC discography on my iPod... the rest of the classics I hear on WHDA.

I love the old rock. Most ppl look at me and tell me that I look too young to know about that kind of music. But you are sooo rite. Rock is dead.

Just remember, if you start in on the "music isn't what it used to be..." schtick, you have just become your parents.

Think on it.
