Pontiac G8 GXP....I want one!

I drove a base model G8 at work and the interior alone had me smitten! So now ive been looking at all the models and now i really want an orange 6 speed GXP. Im finally building credit with Snap-On now and i figure in a year roughly i'll be able to put a down payment on one. Im a young guy and I'm still in school so it will be awhile

So i have yet to get any feedback about this animal so i would like some lol

For starters...I cant find anything about a navigation option on it but i find it hard to believe it comes without one?

thank you

No navi. Onstar and XM standard. OnStar will have turn by turn navigation, but no screen-based navi.
G8 GT is an awesome car, and IMO...the best car GM makes currently.

A NAV system would complete that car...GM wants to target the European audience well throw a damn NAV system in there.

Problem is that where the screen is placed in the G8, its too low for US standards. So its just a radio screen.

Yup I want a black on black G8 GT.

The G8 doesn't need the Navi because it's touted as a performance sedan, not a touring luxury car. As Al said, the turn by turn with OnStar will be here soon, if you really need help. Or, instead of paying several hundred for the Navi thats in the dash, pay just 250 for a dash mounted GPS. Better supported, more accurate, a lot cheaper.

G8 > 2010 Camaro

yeah but when you want to go swing your nuts around, built-in navigation helps i guess.

...even the 'vette has Nav so I don't buy that. I understand the reasons why it doesn't have it however if it's being compared to European cars it should have Nav IMO.

Who needs Nav, Onstar or XM? They just add weight and slow down the car!

It doesn't need a navigation system. What it needs is a DIC that looks more modern, not something out of the 1980's. A Navi system would make it more expensive than it already is, and introduce something else that needs to be fixed / updated / replaced. Burned out screens, out of date software, poor wiring, ad naseum...

I like it the way it is, just wish it had an updated look to the DIC.

The DIC between teh guages is damn near Audi-esque.
And the large color LCD screen for the radio and hvac is awesome.

In an age of color screens, the DIC on the '08 G8 (and maybe thats my issue, only having seen the '08's) is just plain red text on a screen. Looks very simplified like its older technology.

09's have the same DIC between the guages.
Then there is a large color screen for the radio. I think it looks good. Its very clean, and it not as pixelated as some older ones, its very modern looking IMO. The Camaro has the same screen, only its in blue.
