War Of The Worlds ZR1 vs GT2 vs 599 GTB vs GTR

ZR1 FOR THE MUTHA EFFIN WIN!!

War of the Worlds: ZR1 vs GT2 vs 599 vs GT-R

Chevy's new ZR1 takes on the best from Germany, Italy, and Japan in a full-scale battle of ground-bound ICBMs -- we've got all the fallout

Full review at Link:http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...gtr/index.html

The Dust Clears

So? Who wins the War of the Worlds? For sure, each car in this field qualifies as a superstar. The Nissan GT-R delivers 21st Century electro-wonder and shattering performance at a base price ($77,840) that borders on the unbelievable. The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano offers succulent styling, shameless hedonism, peerless refinement, and speed and handling matched only by a handful of cars on the planet. The Porsche GT2, which Theys dubbed "the raciest in the bunch," churns out effortless speed (the variable-vane twin-turbo engine feels naturally aspirated, so smooth is its power delivery) and seems utterly bulletproof. You know you could hammer on it all day long and it would never complain. The ZR1 has a few glaring flaws -- including a fade-into-the-traffic-flow exterior and a cockpit lacking almost any signs of flying first-class -- yet by nearly every objective measure (and most subjective ones, too) this new Chevy expands the performance envelope for premium supercars. And at a fraction of the price of the European thoroughbreds. In the supercar realm, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 rules.

First Place: Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Class-shattering power, race-car handling grip, monster brakes, and sweet control inputs leave even the bluebloods in this Chevy's wake.

Second Place: Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Costs huge, but delivers huge, too. Still one of the planet's finest sports cars. And when it comes to sex appeal, forget it: The Ferrari is the only one you'd choose for a date with Gisele Bundchen.

Third Place: Porsche GT2
The Rolex of sports cars: brilliantly engineered and bulletproof. Unreal speed, hellacious grip, and superb controls -- everyday drives become laps at Le Mans.

Fourth Place: Nissan GT-R
That a machine this incredible finishes fourth shows you how spectacular the other three really are. At the price, nothing comes close. And if you think Nissan is resting on its 480-horsepower laurels, stay tuned for Act II: GT-R V-Spec.

Always been a fan of the GT2 myself, but the Zr1 in that color would suffice.

In reality, the ZR1 is a 599 sans prancing pony.
Magnetic Shocks: Check
Massive Ceramic Brakes: Check
600+hp engine that makes magical music: Check +
2 seater: Check
Front engine, rear drive: Check
Carbon fiber body work:...ooo ZR1 takes the win. And the ZR1 is a bit lighter. Not sure on the 599's weight, but if I had to guess, in the mid to high 3k range with ZR1 at 3200.
Leather wrapped interior: Check...though the Ferrari's is a touch nicer

Depends which trim of the 599 you get.

There is also the rumor of a response from Ferrari to all of the "World Beaters" coming after their place at the top. Rumor Rumor Rumor is that the Ferrari Challenge series will step up to 599's in 2 years when the contract changes with the FIA, ALMS, and Rolex/Grand AM. This woudl mean a lightweight for the track, that much like the current Challenge Stradale, would find it's way to the street.

hhhmmmmmmm 599 with 400lbs hacked off of it

Then again, the same rumor went around when the 599 was first introduced. So who knows if it will ever happen, but it would be sweet.

...Now though , it was Driven by Jan Magnussen. Which he was able to take the monster in 7:22.4 round the 13 mile feary track . That's a whole 4 seconds faster than before. Which makes it now faster than a Ferrari Enzo , Pagani Zonda F Clubsport and a Maserati MC12 ! However , it still didn't take Dodge's Viper ACR off the lead (which did it in 7:22.1). Its just awesome seeing the Americans beating the Europeans on there own land .

Here's the ZR-1's NEW lap time profile :

Lap time ID: 49063045e0652
Car: 2008 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (476 kw)
Track: Nordschleife
Lap time: 7.22.4
Driven by: Jan Magnussen Submitter
IP: 24.208.168.135
Date & time of submission: 27/10/08, 23:19:01

Sources:
Motorgears.blogspot.com

CorvetteForum

Autoblog

Here's the caveat though: the posting has been removed from fastestlaps.com, with the message, "Lap time reference information is not provided!" It is also not listed on their Nurburgring lap times page. Is this an early sign of an official GM time? Or is it bogus? Let the discussion begin...

the 599 was one of the Ferrari's that i couldn't stomach the styling of. but honestly, I'm glad i cannot afford any of those because i do not know which one i would pick.
