New car??

I'm thinking of getting a new car. Brandy new. I really like the 4 door wranglers. I found a 08 with 5,250 miles on it for 22000. I want a new car with warrenty and all that stuff. What else should i look at. I want something with 4wd.

I'm a big fan of the 4 door Wrangler myself. I know a lot of folks who have them and love them. Also, you can pretty much throw 33" tires on it with no lift and 35" tires with just a budget boost, so if you're looking to go off road in the future, it's a pretty good option (Although if you're seriously looking to go off road, I'd look for the Rubicon but it'll cost you). Don't know anything worth saying about any other 4WD vehicles.

Yeah, I am not a fan of the new Wrangler either. Too big, too goofy looking, mileage is terrible, not enough power, and you get to pay the guzzler tax on it.

If you want a truck that size, get a Grand Cherokee or something similar. At least then the ride will be better

Walk into any dealer, pick a crew cab truck, and wheel 'n deal with them. They are hurting to get rid of them. I have no experience with wranglers so I can't accurately comment on them.

my stepdad has a 4 door wrangler, the mileage sucks, theres like no leg room in the back seat (im 6'1)...but it looks pretty badass (we have it in black), were lifting it and putting 35s on it soon

They are way too huge and look goofy. Looks like they stole ideas from Tonka's styling department. The new engines have no power and get terrible mileage.

The old Wrangler was a small, nimble, and capable vehicle. Didn't get great mileage, but it was capable right off the show room floor. Now you have to get a "Trail Rated" package or they will void your warranty if they find evidence you where off roading the vehicle.

i say go for it then. unless your gonna be towing, the 3.8 is plenty powerful and it probably is more efficient than anything else you own. i havent really seen any other complaints

I was a hater when it first came out, but I have actually been on the trail with them (Two and Four Door, Rubi and not Rubi). The only problems I've really seen with the four door is high-centering on some hills due to the long wheelbase. I was hard-core against the mini van motor in the new Jeep as I still firmly believe the H.O. 4.0 inline six to be one of the most durable and reliable motors ever, but the folks I know who actually own and drive them say that it works fine. I would agree that it's probably underpowered compared to the TJ, but the mileage is comparable. Also, the TJ is smaller than even the 2 door.

I like the styling as well. I might even consider buying one used someday. Lifting it is a piece of cake; all you need is a budget boost (2") and you can stuff 35s under there with no issues and it looks pretty sick.

Firebird67dude, if you really like the JK, you might want to talk to some folks who actually own one (Not the dealer; they'll tell you whatever you want to hear). Why not check out www.northjerseyjeepclub.org? I know quite a few JK owners there who would give you an opinion.

I'm not a fan of the JKs....they just look cheap and plasticky and the 3.8 minivan motor is crap compared to the 4.0.

I know they are plenty capable off-road, and from what I've heard they perform similarly to the TJ on-road, so if you like it, go for it.

If you just want something with 4wd and a new vehicle warranty, it's a good choice. If you want something to build into a nice off-road rig, I would suggest getting a TJ so you have the 4.0.
